Sylvia Collins PELHAM, N.C. - A funeral for Sylvia Ganey Newcomb Collins, 54, 374 Poole Road, will be conducted 4 p.m. today at Arlington Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Samuel L. Greeson and the Rev. Michael Kent. Burial will be in Schoolfield Cemetery. She died Friday afternoon, Feb. 20, 1998, at her residence. Born June 27, 1943, in Danville, she was the daughter of Joseph H. Ganey and Susie Crawford Ganey, who survives. She was married to Carl "Bebo" Collins, who survives. A resident of Caswell County for most of her life, she was a homemaker and a former assistant school teacher for Caswell County School System and also Danville Christian Schools. She was a member of Arlington Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 30 years. In addition to her mother of Danville, Va., and husband of the residence, survivors include three daughters, Toni Newcomb Furgurson and Traci Newcomb Gunnell, both of Pelham, and Nikki Lynn Collins of the residence; two stepdaughters, Janice Collins and Cathy Collins, both of Danville, Va.; two brothers, Joseph Craven Ganey of Huntsville, Ala., and James Douglas Ganey of South Boston; and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Anthony Newcomb. Swicegood Funeral Home is handling arrangments. The family will be at the residence of her daughter, Toni N. Furgurson, 342 Poole Road, Pelham.
