    2. Hi List, I am forwarding this to the list for Bill. I hope someone can help him. This is his email address [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) Thanks. Barbara Collins List Admin In a message dated 8/31/2004 7:45:05 PM Eastern Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: Collins List---have been looking for about 20 yrs, and this is probably my last attempt to find out about the parents and prior of James A. (aka Anderson) Collins. He was born in GA in 1848, married in Morgan Co, MO in 1870, and died there in 1922. Married to Sarah Jane Marriott. Closest I've come is in the 1860 Census in Whitfield Co. GA. William Collins was a RR worker, age 35 and born in NC (same as James claimed in later years). Brother was Hiram K, who later probably lived in Cherokee Co, OK. 3. This is so true, The LDS did the same in my lines. I called them, and wrote them with correct documentation. They stated that they would place it on their books and give out correct information for those who contacted them on these lines, but could not change what is on the website?? They do not check for errors the information sent to the by family members,....Research the research! --- Mary Ann <[email protected]> wrote: > Please keep in mind that not all the info on this > site is correct. 3. Please keep in mind that not all the info on this site is correct. They accept information that is submitted by family members as well. We all have run across where someone a few lines down has taken our info and mistranscribed it or totally is off base. Recheck and document everything you find on the web or are given. A check at that site had information on me that was given by someone else. My maiden name was misspelled and birthday incorrect. My children's name were not spelled correctly either. I wrote to LDS and they stated that they can not change information that was donated by someone else. I wrote to the person who sent it in, (an ex-mother in law) and it was never updated or changed. So lesson here is never take anything you find on the web as gospel. Get your own proof and documentation. Semper Fi, Mary Ann

    3. Hi,,,I did some looking for you and found a little,,,but will keep looking. I found on a website that The Village of Port Colden is located an the eastern edge of Washington Township in NJ. Noting this, I looked in the 1870 Census of NJ and found this for Washington Township: John Collins 39 M Railroad Laborer b. PA Elizabeth 24 b. NJ Geo. 7 b. PA Ida 5 b. NJ Oliver 2 b. NJ Wm. 10/12 b. NJ This could possibly be your Collins Family due to the ages and the fact that if Howard was b. abt 1870, he probably would not be on this census. Although not proven, it looks strikingly like your family. I have not found anything else yet, but will keep looking. I did note that Geo. in this census was b. PA. That raises the question, did they marry in PA or NJ, and possibly shows when they may have moved to NJ.
