Need some help to identify the parents of Alice Lyons (nee Collins) b abt 1822 d 1915 Marion, Marion, Ohio and Mary Collins b abt 1839. Alice was married to John Lyons b abt 1820, Ireland d 1895 Marion, Marion, Ohio, sometime after 1850. In the 1880 Census, John, Alice and Mary (SIL) were in the same household in Marion, Marion, Ohio. Some census information mentions they were born in Ireland but I have not been able to verify this information. Any help to identify parents and other siblings would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for a John Collins in late 1800's Wise Co. VA. He might be listed as mullatto as he was full Native American. Unknown spouse, but son Isaac was born in VA in 1858 and was married to Mourning Collins in 1877 and have a daughter with them (Laurabelle age 1) in the 1880 census for Wise Co. VA. Laurabelle is my husband's great-grandmother. His mother said they were Blackfoot. But we are trying to find definite proof of which tribe they are from. My husband is now 67, and I would like to find out this information to tell him fairly soon, as his health is not good. Can anyone help or have connection to this family? Thanks, Linda Guy

I am tracing this family and am hoping that someone on this list knows something about them and/or is related to them. William J. or L. D. Collins m. Cynthia (Davis???) which ever Collins it is, they were born in Alabama, sometime prior to 1800. Cynthia (Davis???) b. abt 1792 in N. Carolina d. aft 1870 in Madison Co.,(?) Texas they had at least these children; Mary b. abt 1822 AL d. bef 1850 TX??? m. 1 James M. McDonald, 2 Mr. Boykin James Alfred b. abt 1828 AL d. bef 1880 TX m. 1 Mary E. __?__, 2 Martha Jane Paulsell Francis Lee (twin to Louis) b. 24 Nov 1832 AL d. 27 Apr 1875 Visalia, Tulare, CA m. Mary Jane Peyton Louis Davis (twin to Francis) b. 26 Jan 1832 AL d. bef 1900 TX m. Sarah J. __?__ I have a fair number of the descendants of these 4 children, but none of the lines are entirely complete. also, I believe that there are more children in this family. Cynthia was in her 30's when she gave birth to Mary, and I suspect these are just the younger children. I've researched the lines as thoroughly as possible through the census and have posted all the names to the Rootsweb message boards, but I've become stuck once again. I have not succeeded in finding where the family was in Alabama, though I have a note from my grandmother that it was "near Birmingham" and Mary's son William McDonald is said to have been born in Lauderdale Co. I can't find them there or in any of the counties surronding and including Birmingham. I live in Oregon, so researching Alabama ancestors and relatives, either in Alabama or TX, is something I can only do via the 'net. hoping this connects somehow... Cornelia

Hello List~ I am hoping to connect with someone else who is researching the family of Micajah Collins of Blacksburg, Montgomery, Virginia. I haven't been able to find much on this family. However I have made a few connections through census records, but without vital records I can't be possitive. 1850 Montgomery Co, VA census, page 133, 31 Oct 1850 shows this household: 898/898 Micajah Collins 50 Elizabeth " 59 Susan " 28 Nancy " 21 Joshua " 15 1860 Montgomery County, VA census shows this household 1129/1025 Lucinda Daugherty 53 Nancy A. " 20 Harry. T. " 18 Alice V. " 5 Micajah Collins 63 Sarah Bland 56. I believe that Lucinda, Micajah, and Sarah are brother and sisters. 1870 Montgomery Co, VA Census shows this household: ADAM PRICE, MALE, AGE 76 YRS. W NANCY PRICE, FEMALE, AGE 62 YRS. W (Nancy was a Collins) SUSANNAH PRICE, FEMALE, AGE 20 YRS, W Sarah Bland, Female, Age 77, W (Nancy's sister) Benjamin Price, Male, Age 42, B ( "Ben My negro man" mentioned in the will of Henry David Price.). The above Census connects Nancy Collins with Sarah, Lucinda, and Micajah from the 1860 Census. Besides that, Adam and Nancy Price named one of thier daughters Lucinda. I would appreciate any information regarding these families. Thanks, Leslie Ann

Hezekiah was born in Virginia in 1810. He married Sarah Jane WOOD, who was born in Virginia, 1813. They later moved to Ohio, then out to Oregon. Anybody with a match? Thank you, Laura Jones
I am interested in more information on Joseph Collins of Ohio. I have the following information on him: Name: Joseph Collins Wife: Phobe Cline Children: John James Susanna Ellen Daniel The 1850 Federal Census shows Joseph Collins at age 35 living in Lake Township, Logan County, Ohio. The other members of the household were Phebe, age 34, John, age 7, James, age 5, Susan, age 3, and Rachel, age 4 months. Joseph's occupation is listed as laborer. Joseph is shown as born in Pennsylvania while Rachel is shown as born in Virginia. All of the children were listed as born in Ohio. According to Memoirs of the Miami Valley (1920, p. 117), Joseph divided his time between clearing his land in Logan County of heavy timber and the trade of carpenter. In 1854, he moved from Logan County to Paulding County where he resided for a year. A year later, he moved to Allen County where he died. His widow and children returned to Logan County, and Phoebe died in Logan County. I am interested in the burial location of Joseph and any additional information on the family.
Hi there, happy new year to everyone. I can't help anyone with their brick walls yet, but here's mine: Ellen Collins, Irish, a convict who's listed crime was "stealing a flannel". She was sent to Australia on the Hooghley arrived 1832, was married that same year to a henry Wyatt, to whom she was also assigned, as was the way of things back then. She was in her mid 20s when she arrived, and she is my great-great- great-grandmother, and must have had a family back in Ireland who may never have heard from her again. She is buried out in the Mudgee district of NSW. Her daughter Sarah Wyatt (born 1844) married George William Johnston in the Mudgee District of NSW on June 26, 1865. Any info would be much appreciated, and any knowledge of anyone researching the Collins family in Ireland would be a big crack in the wall, as I haven;t even found any other researchers yet of that family name in Ireland. Cheers, and happy digging to all, Willow Aliento Mummulgum, Australia
G'day, in 1916, there were two Armies in India: the British, and the Indian. The latter was composed of "local" troops, with mostly British officers. I don't know anything about research in India. A fairly complete list of soldiers in the British Army in WW1 is available on-line from the UK PRO. I searched "Francis COLLINS", and got 58 hits. There were no obvious connections with your bloke. Do you have any more details of his military service, that might enable some refined searching of the above list ? Looking for additional descendants of my wifes ancestor, William Lock COLLINS, who married Ann UNKNOWN (possibly Ann LORING, d/o Joseph LORING and Zeruiah SHELLEY). They had at least 6 children based on early census information, but I only know the name of my wifes ancestor, Edward Henry COLLINS, b. 12 Nov 1823 in Wheatland, Monroe County, NY, who married Rosannah BENNETT, b. 1829 in NY, d/o Elias BENNETT and Roxanna WOODWARD. Edward Henry and Rosannah (Bennett) COLLINS moved to IL and both died in Peoria, IL, in 1895 and 1916, respectively. Their children were: Francelia COLLINS, b. Hi Teri, I'm afraid that it isn't the same John W. Ours was born Feb 1840 in Pittsylvania Co., VA, m. Mary Jane Gilbert in 1867 had 9 children & died sometime after 1888 at his farm. I wish I could connect, the Thomas link looks interesting but then Thomas, like Collins & Smith are common surnames. Happy Familying, Laura Irby in 70 degree SE VA I have a John W. Collins that I'm trying to verify. He married Mary Giddens in Berrien County Ga. 2 of their children married into the Elias Thomas line. could there be a connection between the two families? Thanks for the reply - Francis was in the Indian Army reserves reaching the dizzy heights of 2nd Lieut. We were told that a person coulnt join the Indian Army unless they were British or Indian - Francis was American (or he was when he naturalised British in 1933) and so it is all a bit of a puzzle.
