I am seeking information on the COTTER, COLLINS, HILL, DILLWORTH families all from Cork. Richard COTTER 1849 - 1903 married Mary COLLINS 1839 - 1902 in Carrigtwohill, Cobh, Co. Cork June 1867. She was probably married previously since she was older and had a child not of this marriage. My g-Grandfather also Richard COTTER (1870-1960) was born in Carrigtwohill, Cobh, Co. Cork. The family emigrated to USA in early 1880's residing in Franklin and Ogdenburg, Sussex County, NJ. Nora HILL (1873 - 1945) also born in Co. Cork, child of Thomas HILL and Mary DILWORTH, emigrated to USA in 1890's., where she married the younger Richard COTTER. The elder RIchard and Mary later relocated to Phillipsburgh, Warren County, NJ where they are buried. The younger Richard and Nora relocated to Butler, NJ. Any assistance or connection will be appreciated. Hello to all, One of my ancestors was Lewis P. Collins. The family bible says he was born in Mississippi in 1825 and that he married Ann Slocum of Carrollton, Mississippi. That is all I know about them except that two sons, John Collins and Thomas I. Collins (born in 1855) lived in Texas and may have been born there. Does anyone know anything about these folks? Please reply. C.L. Collins
Hi all Collins descendants! Just recently joined this list. I have Collins ancestors who I haven't had any luck tracing. Perhaps someone on this list may know more. To all: Can anyone tell me why Wake County, NC is such a common place for ancestors to be from? Was there a port near there or something? I'm asking because I was told that the Wake County>AL>MS path that my ancestors took was extremely common and I don't know exactly why. What drew so many people to Wake County in the first place and why did they choose AL and MS after that? Cheap land, maybe? If anyone knows please get back to me. Thanks!
