Hi, I'm going to borrow a statement from Lauri Manda's posting of her immigrant Collins ancestor: <quote>: "We too are far from knowing who our immigrant ancestor is, below is ALL we know about our COLLINS line & all we figure we'll ever know:" <unquote> Two of my cousins & I have searched all avenues for years & can't find anything on our Grandfather's parent's ... alas, not even their names!! WILLIAM DAVID COLLINS, b 2-19-1855, in Illinois (questionable). Married ANNIE ELIZABETH "BESSIE" ISHMAEL (b 12-1-1865/Illinois) on 3-3-1882 in Clinton, Henry County, Missouri. Their children: CHARLES THOMPSON COLLINS, b 1-16-1883 in Missouri (died 1889); VENNIE ELIZABETH COLLINS, b 9-7-1884 in Missouri (died in childhood); ROY WILLIAM COLLINS, b 4-17-1886 in Missouri; LIDA COLLINS, b 9-11-1888 in Missouri (died 1893); CLARA COLLINS, b 5-11-1890 in Missouri (died 1893); ORA LEE COLLINS, b 9-29-1891 in St.Clair or LeBeck, Missouri; MADIE ALMA COLLINS, b 4-25-1894 in Missouri; FLOSSIE EDNA COLLINS, b 3-25-1896 in Kansas; DOVIE MYRTLE COLLINS, b 9-27-1898 in Miami, Oklahoma; EARL COLLINS {twin}, b 12-6-1901 in Miami, Oklahoma; PEARL COLLINS { twin}, b 12-6-1901 in Miami, Oklahoma (died 1906); Thanks, Lynn Murray LynnMurray@hia.net My Home on the Net: http://members.tripod.com/~MurrayL/index.html SEARCHING FOR: BEATTIE/BEATTY, CANTRELL, CARMICHAEL, COLLINS, DENNY, DRIVER, GENTRY, HAAS, HARRIS, ISSACS, ISHMAEL, JONES, LAIRD, LEE, LUNSFORD, LYNN/LINN, MALLARD, MEDLEY, MORLAND, MURRAY, MCFERRIN, O'NEAL, STEWART, STORM/STURM, STOCKTON, THOMAS
Hi Collins Researchers, Is anyone researching the Collins of Alabama? Especially in Fayette Co., Al? This is my husband's line: A. Tom Collins b 1849 Don't know where. married Alice Jones, don't know when or where. They had the following children: Sarah, Charlie, Frank, Jim, Tommy, George, Walter, Mearkie, Rose, Martha, Maggie and Myrtie Bell. Tom Collins d 1921 in Fayette Co., Al. buried in Mt Willing Cemetery. Myrtie Bell Collins Motes is my husband's mother. She was b in 1901 and d 1996 at the age of 95. Buied in hillcrest Cemetery. West Palm Beach, Fl. As far as I know they lived in Alabama except for a short time in Oklahoma. I believe there is a Melungeon connection. His mother said that she was part Indian. She had dark skin, black hair and dark brown eyes. I can't find a smidgeon of any ancestors beyond Tom Collins. Any info appreciated Mary Lou
Hi COLLINS researchers I'm far from knowing who my immigrant ancestor is, below is ALL I know about my COLLINS line and all I figure I'll ever know: Hattie S. COLLINS b Nov 1870 in TN (per 1900 Collin Co TX census) m 21 Nov 1886 Jefferson D. LANCASTER (per Collin Co marriage records) their children: 1. Ila Myrtle LANCASTER b 21 Oct 1886 Collin Co TX 2. Rena LANCASTER b 1894 Collin Co TX 3. Mollie LANCASTER b abt 1901 Collin Co TX 4. Jefferson D. LANCASTER Jr b abt 1908 Collin Co TX Per a newspaper article done on my g grandmother Ila M. LANCASTER DAY back in the early 1970's, Hattie was a half Cherokee orphan raised by her half sister named Betty BLAND. I didn't find a BLAND family in the 1880 TX soundex with a Hattie COLLINS in the household or with a wife named Betty so Hattie still could have been living at home in 1880 or might have still been in TN. I know that it's possible that Hattie wasn't Cherokee and could have been Melungeon but no proof there either. So...anyone have a COLLINS of either Cherokee or Melungeon descent who left orphans in the 1870s-1880s and lived in TN and/or TX? If you do, let me know! Thanks! Lauri Manda LauriMM@aol.com

I have the following Collins in my files that I haven't made any progress in years. Look and see if any of the names make a connection to your Collins. Below is a small descendant tree of a Joseph Collins, that lived in Morgan Co., Ga in the early 1800.. There were two brothers, Banister, and Benjamin2 Cochran that married Sarah and Nancy Collins) b. 1796). It is believed that the two girls were sisters but have no document or data to back it up. Banister Cochran ( m. Sarah Matilda Collins, b. 1796) paid some delinquent taxes for Joseph Collins in 1820. That suggest some kinship. The known children of Joseph Collins are in the tree. Is anyone working on a COLLINS lines of free people of color, or of Native American descent? I'm feeling like a stepchild. lillian
Hello fellow researchers, I am searching for information regarding a George COLLINS who resided in Anson>Richmond County, North Carolina between 1764 and 1799. He owned land in Georgetown, Prince George's Parish, South Carolina as of 1790...he sold some of his land to Duncan McInnes, yet he was one SC census as of 1800. I am trying to determine where George came from....his family naming pattern follows along the lines of the older Virginia family, however, I have been unable to find any matches among those lines so far. The first record I have of him is of a land purchase in Anson County, NC 1764, and the last I have is the 1800 Georgetown, SC census. As far as I have been able to determine from court records, census, tax lists, etc., George lived most of his life in Richmond County, NC. If anyone has any info that might help, please let me know.... Jamie Wood tennessee@dial.pipex.com
