    1. [COLLINS] [Collins] Jacob Collins revisited
    2. About a year ago I had questions about where Jacob Collins possibly came from. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten much further along. Here is the census information that has been gathered. 1910 Census name: Jake Collins birthplace: Missouri relationship to head of household: Self residence: Winona, Shannon, Missouri marital status: Widowed race : White gender: Male immigration year: father's birthplace: Kentucky mother's birthplace: Ohio family number: 212 page number: 11 Household Gender Age Birthplace self Jake Collins M 58y Missouri bro William Collins M 55y Missouri Catherine Collins F 42y Arkansas Mary Collins F 9y Arkansas 1920 name: Jacob Collins residence: , Randolph, Arkansas estimated birth year: 1850 age: 70 birthplace: Missouri relationship to head of household: Father gender: Male race: White marital status: Widowed father's birthplace: mother's birthplace: film number: 1820078 digital folder number: 4293678 image number: 00049 sheet number: 6 Household Gender Age Birthplace self Aaran Collins M 39y Arkansas fath Jacob Collins M 70y Missouri 1870 name: Jacob Collins estimated birth year: 1849 gender: Male age in 1870: 21y color (white, black, mulatto, chinese, indian): White birthplace: Missouri home in 1870: Missouri, United States Household Gender Age Birthplace Jacob Collins M 21y Missouri Mary Collins F 24y Missouri William Collins M 4y Missouri Vandaly Collins M 2m Missouri He is in Richland Township, Texas Co., MO at the time. He is living next to Elizabeth Betsy Collins and Levi Collins in this census and he and Levi are almost the same age. The only thing that precludes me from connecting him directly to this group is that Polly Collins is most likely the daughter of Aaron Collins and Elizabeth Betsy Collins. However, there is a possibility that this Mary Polly Collins could've been from one of the other branches. 1880 name: Polly Collins residence: Richland, Douglas, Missouri birthdate: 1845 birthplace: Missouri, United States relationship to head: Self spouse's name: spouse's birthplace: father's name: father's birthplace: Indiana, United States mother's name: mother's birthplace: Indiana, United States race or color (expanded): White ethnicity (standardized): American gender: Female martial status: Widowed * age (expanded): 35 years occupation: Keeping House nara film number: T9-0685 page: 532 page character: D entry number: 2712 film number: 1254685 Household Gender Age Birthplace self Polly Collins F 35 Missouri, United States son William Collins M 14 Missouri, United States dau Vandalia Collins F 10 Missouri, United States dau Amerian E. Collins F 8 Missouri, United States Luisa C. Mccarty F 19 Missouri, United States Jacob's last known location was Jane's Creek, Randolph Co., Arkansas. He supposedly died in Myatt Township, Fulton, Arkansas. His date of birth has been listed as anywhere from 1846-1853 and his date of death, according to his headstone is 1925. He was buried in Flint Cemetery, Sharp Co., Arkansas. It was orginially thought that he was the son of Harmon and America Collins, however he is buried in a cemetery full of Stephen Collins descendants. I know in 1870 he was living next to Elizabeth 'Betsy' Collins, wife of Aaron "Aron" Collins. I appreciate any help. Thanks! -- “Never argue with an idiot. 3. Than you so much for your suggestions - RI is terra incognita for me, but I'm learning that 90% of the colonial families use about twenty-five given names and they're all inter-related - every bit of advice I can get will be useful! 3. Fred: In this time period there are the Arnold Collection of Vital Records (available w/fee from NEHGS); also historical cemetery collection. The RIHS has WONDERFUL information on early RI (I have many RI ancestors), and the VR collection is invaluable. I am not, however, a current member of NEHGS, but your Charles Collins comes up in a search using dates of 1745-1810. Perhaps SKS on this list who is a member can do a look-up for you. I'd also suggest joining a RI list at Rootsweb. Probably more helpful on this particular query, as the Collins list is very diverse and all the RI families seem to be interrelated. (I know, I'm descended from 1/2 of them). http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rigenweb/mailist.html Marilyn Arnold -----Original Message----- From: collins-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:collins-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Fred Murphy Sent: Monday, August 13, 2012 9:57 PM To: COLLINS@rootsweb.com Subject: [COLLINS] Charles Collins, Warren, RI Further to my earlier inqury about this man: he was born at Warren, Rhode Island ca. 1745 and died there ca. 1810; married at Warren ca. 1772 Hannah Turner; they had 3 children, including Capt. 3.    Hi Collins members, I'm looking for a Sarah Jane Collins, maybe born 20 Oct 1866 and maybe born in St.Louis, Missouri or in England. She died on the 28th of Oct. 1954 in St. Louis, MO. or Wesco, Cuba, Crawford Co., Mo. and is buried in the Kinder Cemetery (Old McLEOD) Cemetery in Cuba, MO. She is/was married to Alexander McLeod and they are buried next to each other in the same Cemetery, along with many others in our family of McLEOD's.  Sarah Jane COLLINS and Alexander were married in St.Louis, MO abt 1883 and had at least 9 children.  The family Bible has her father as Patrick (Thomas) Collins and (poss. b. in Kansas) & Mother Sarah Jane MacKAY, possibly they were both b. in England..?? Some of the names for their children, (Patrick & Sarah MacKay) are: Sarah Jane, William H. b. England, Emma H b. England., Thomas b. MO., Harry D b. MO. and Patrick Thomas Jr., b. MO. Some of this is from the Bible and some from other sources, not verified as of yet.  This is all that I have. I hope that it will strike a bell with someone.  Thank you for any help than anyone can give me on this. Sandee
