I just got started hunting for relatives dead and alive...I got my birth records opened April 23 and I am the fourth child of Nora (Nona?) Louise Collins who was born around 1904-06 in Little Rock, AR. If anyone knows anything about her, please let me know. I had traced a Nona Collins back to Otis and Testie Collins and beyond but it turned out that Nona's middle name is Catherine. My mother was married in 1922 to Edward Gene EDMUND (sp?) Thanks! Jo

Posting should of stated I'm looking for the natural father of Elizur Collins Sorry for the cut off Louise
n finding ELizur Collins natural father JOHN SMITH, ELIZUR COLLINS stepfather 1649, May 26. In a letter of this date written from Narragansett by Roger Williams to John Winthrop, Jr.., he says that he "came hither late last night, and went from Warwick, where this colony met, and upon discharge of my service we chose Mr.. John Smith, of Warwick, where, the merchant or shopkeeper that lived at Boston, for this years Presidents.'" 1655, May 7. He and Stukely Westcott, were ordered " to cast up what damage is due to the Indians, and place everyman's share according to his proportion and gather it up; and in case any one refuse to pay upon demand, then it shall be taken by distress, by a warrant from the Town Deputy." 1663, Sept 14. The town Council appointed his widow Ann, sole executrix giving her all estates in Warwick or elsewhere; and it appearing that her son Elizur Collins, hath due him f200, as a legency given him and his sister Ann Collins, which sister being dead the whole sum is due Elizur, therefore the executrix is ordered to make over all the housing and lands in Warwick, of John Smith, to her son Elizur for the security of his portion, but she, Anne, to enjoy said housing and lands for life. If any of John Smiths kin appear they are to have 5s ELIZUR COLLINS copied from, The Genealogical Dictionary of Rhode Island by John Osborne Austin He was the son of that widow Ann Collins, who married John Smith (President of the Colony), 1649, at who decease in 1668, the widow and her son Elizur, inherited the estate. She died 1678, Nov. 2, at Warwick. May 20, 1678 He with the consent his mother, Ann Smith and his wife Sarah, sold two lots in Warick Neck, and a town lot to Jonathan Knight. October 29, 1683 The Jury of Grand Inquest declared, that having made inquiry (1683, Sep. 29), concerning the death of Lieut.. Elizur Collins casually found dead in his own house," do absolutely conclude that the said Elizur Collins was actually his own death by hanging himself. Does anyone have any information on the Collins that went to Fannin County Texas in the 1800's? If anyone has the census and could see if they could find any Taylors, Collins, or Jarrell {various spelling} it could open up a new area for Collins research. I know some of them went there from Gwinnett Co Ga. Maxine
