    2. Hi Elsie... Dont mean to be a bother... but somehow I missed the new web address.. Any chance I could get it again? Also... I HATE typing those addresses in...there is so much room for putting in a tiny error.... So I just use Ctrl V and Ctrl C. (A friend of mine showed me this) All you do, is highlight your web address with your cursor. Then, while it is still shaded in, Press and hold the Ctrl key.. then press the letter C (copy). The entire address then will be stored in your buffer memory. When you type your email, get the cursor to the place you want the URL to appear. Then press and hold Ctrl key again........ Only this time type "V". It will copy your URL right to the mail, without EVER having to type out all that "http://www" garbage again! You probably know this by now, but some others may not. (I didn't, until it was passed on to me by a kind friend) Thanks in advance Valerie

    2. It has been a while since I posted and I am in hopes there are new members who can shed some light on my line. Meredith Collins b. 1760 Va. d. 184041 Pike Co. Ky He was a REVWAR soldier who joined in 1776 Fincastle Co Va w/ 3 other Collins men, George,David and Lewis. These four Collins stay together til 1796 Wilkes Co. NC and then split up with George settling in Peach Bottom, Grayson Co. Va. David and Lewis going to TN and Meredith settling in Russell Co. Va. Meredith appears to have "taken up with" instead of a paper recorded marriage cause in over 30 years of searching no record has ever been found. 1) name unk ca: 1785 -6 2) "Polly" Margaret or Mary HOLLOWAY ca: 1795 probably Wilkes Co. 3) Milly Johnson ca: 1815-18 Floyd Co/Pike Co Ky Children by 3 women : Bradley b. 1786-7 female possibly Amy John W. b. 1797 Edward Archibald b. 1800 Russell Co. 1. Obediah and William Lewis Collins
    2. Penny Farley
    3. I am searching for info on my great grandfather, William Lewis Collins who was born about 1875-76 possibly in Bell Co. or Clay Co. Ky. According to Claiborne Co., TN marriage records, he married Dora Jones on Aug. 20, 1895, the ceremony was performed by R. M. Brooks, J.P(Justice of Peace??) I believe his parents to be: Obediah Collins and Elizabeth _____, both from NC. They are in the 1870 Bell Co., KY census: Obediah is listed as age 36 and Elizabeth as age 19 in HH #147--139, no children. (Judging from the age difference, this could be a second marriage for Obediah.) *** I have the army records for Obediah which gives his age as 30 when he enlisted in April 1862 in Yadkinville, NC *** Obediah and Elizabeth also had at least one child to die shortly after being born, with the cause listed as hereditary*** ***I don't know if Elizabeth died or what, but she was not with Obediah and Lewis in 1880 in Clay Co. ***Another interesting note from my family, is that several suffer from asthma, maybe an inherited disease, and my grandmother (Lewis's daughter died from asthma). Perhaps this could be what caused the death of child mentioned above. In 1880, Obe Collins age 45 NC and his son Lewis age 6 KY show up in the Clay Co. Census. Later that year, Obediah married Lucy Powell in Clay Co. I have a copy of William Lewis Collins army records, which state that he entered the army in 1898 at age 22, gives his wife's name as Dora Jones, and a physical description of him as dark complexion, blue eyes, and brown hair and being born in NC. He was discharged Feb. 12, 1898 in Anniston, Alabama. Does any of this ring a bell with any of you? I would appreciate any help at all. Thank You, Penny
