Hi, I have two Collins on my most wanted list: Per "The Collins Families of Mifflin, Crawford, and Fayette Counties" (PA): Henry b abt 1725, married Rachel abt 1745 and had 10 children. One of his dtrs, Anne married her cousin DAVID Collins before 1800 - (parents unk). They had one son named Henry (b 1801). After Henry, Sr. death, his widow Rachel, David, Anne and the rest of the family moved to N. Shenango, Crawford Co., PA becoming some of the first settlers in that area. David and Anne both died there abt 1825. Need to know: WHO ARE HENRY and DAVID'S PARENTS? WHERE DID THEY COME FROM BEFORE MIFFLIN CO.? David and Anne's son, Henry, married Hannah Seymore before 1832 and had at least, 6 children, the eldest being DAVID NOAH Collins (b 28 May 1833). Henry, Hannah, David and siblings - Isaiah, Robt Jackson, Rhoda, Hannah and George - all moved to Morgan Co., IL abt 1838. All are listed on the Scott Co., IL 1850 census. BUT WHERE DID THEY GO AFTER THAT? DAVID NOAH married Eliz Poque, had one dtr and divorced Oct. 1854. He then m Mary Elizabeth DILLE (Oct. 1854). In 1864, David's sister, HANNAH m WM DILLE (presumably Mary's brother). David and Mary had six children - Martha Ann, Mary Ann, Ellie B (all b in IL) and Lottie F, twins - Daisy and David, Jr. ( all b in MO). Mary Ann m John L BANKS 1880 in Bourbon Co., KS, Lottie m his brother - Sam'l A BANKS, Jr (1883 Bates Co., MO - ceremony performed by David Noah). Mary Eliz Dillie Collins died before 1910 somewhere in MO/KS. David Noah was injured in the CW and spent a lot of time crisscrossing the MO/KS border seeking medical help. Most of the family came to Los Angeles soon after 1900. David Noah lived with his dtr. Lottie, until his death in 1914. I find David Noah, Mary E. in the Bourbon Co., KS 1880 census. Am looking for them in 1860, 1870, 1900. Has anyone seen them? Col. families: Price, Riden, Bennett, Manley, Linn, Seymore, Dille, Banks, Edwards, Bailey, Steele, Reed. Thanks, Donna

I am looking for info on my great great grandfather Obediah Collins. According to the 1870 Bell Co., KY census, he was age 36, born in NC and was married to a lady named Elizabeth , also from NC and she was age 19. In 1880, he showed up in the Clay Co., KY census living with the Jarvis Lovins family. Here he is listed as being age 45 and has a young son, Lewis age 6(William Lewis Collins is my great grandfather). Elizabeth is not listed, I don't know what happened to her. Later that year, Sept. 10, 1880, Obediah married a lady named Lucy Powell. From here, I cannot find Obediah anymore. I found Lucy in 1900 married to another man with some Collins children in the household. William Lewis Collins turned up in Bell Co. in 1900 married to Dora Jones. They had two children: Minnie and Josephine. He was shot and killed in Middlesboro, Ky as he came out of the Voting polls on election day in 1901. Needless to say, I have had a very difficult time tracing this family. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who came shed some light on this family for me. Any and all help appreciated. Penny

William Collins came to US when he was four years old with his parents. He was born January 4, 1830 in Yorkshire, England. The Collins family settled in New York where they farmed for some years then went to Vernon Co., Wisconsin. William met and married Mary Lenton on Dec. 4, 1859. In 1878 they came to Wright Co., Iowa and settled in Vernon Twsp. William traded his farm in Wisconsin for land in Iowa. Their children: Lenton Collins, William John, James Henry, Matilda, Warren, and May. William and Mary both died in 1903 in Hardin Co., Iowa and are buried there. Any clues to their parents or siblings? Will share info on descendents. Thanks in advance. Diane

Jacquie, Most certainly, I would reckon, Joseph & Susannah had more than one child, but the only info I have available on Joseph & Susannah shows them as having Thomas Collins who died in 1789, Spotsylvnia C., VA; I will be contacting my source( my real dad's half-brother's wife) to ask her about another connection in the Collins line; if I don't get back with you on this, would you please contact me? I get so side-tracked sometimes; especially the weekends keep me away from my computer most often; then I have to remember where I left off come Monday. I'll be more than happy to share what I have if I can help in any way. Sherry skisling@janics.com
