    2. Okay, as I am starting the next page, I find some of it looks like repeats of some of what I have already sent. Since there may be info. in this that was not in the other, I am going to send it anyway. I hope no one minds. Anson Co. DAR File In Carraway Graveyard are buried with markers: Joel McClendon 1779-1855 Edward McClendon 1814-1899 and wife Sarah 1819-1881 (I was told that this Joel was brother to you Dennis) Wall Graveyard Edward Wall b 13 Jan 1813 d 4 March 1861 James Wall, Sr d 19 April 1854 aged 73 yrs 8 mos and 12 days >From a Wall bible owned by Mrs. W.W. Granville County, NC Will of Lewis Collins sg 16 Sept 1783 pr May Court 1785 Wife Elizabeth Collins Ex Childre: Lowis Gatson (Lois Gayden) Betsy Robinson in Va, Edward Collins Ex, Lewis Collins Ex, Wiley Collins, Dianna Carter Collins, Wit: John Taylor and Mourning Matlock. This is the same set as the will of Mrs. Elizabeth Collins in Kershaw and the same son Lewis buried near Liberty Hill and along with your Reuben. Dr. Wardlaw's cousin thought that the father of his Lewis was also Lewis Collins. This is proved now. I think that a close examination should no be made as to which were the sons and which were the grandsons of Capt. Joseph Collins. The Rev. Lewis Collins will 1806 I think in Kershaw and the Baptist minister who came to SC 1762 and left minor children who were not of age until about 1813, must not habe been the son, but the grandson. Lews son of Lewis above in Granville, Wifes's tombstone near Beaver Creeks says she was b Va 1766 I believe now this Lewis of Granville was son of Capt. Joseph and the Rev. Lewis a grandson. I still believe your William was the son and Reuben a grandson of Capt. Joseph, but we might find a missing generation somewhere. I think you William was the William Collins who wed the Bashaw foe he named a son Badshaw. A reconsideration of all these various generations should be made. Laruens Co., SC Will of John Brockman (grandson of Capt. Joseph Collins) sg 27 Nov 1800 and pr 13 Feb 1801 wife Amelia (Martin) Brockman. Ch: Henry m. Brockman and his son John, Annie Parks, mary Dean, Frances wife of Thomas Mullins, Kennery Brockman, Lucy deceased wife of John Owens, Sr., her ch. John Henry Owens, Elizabeth Ballenger and Amelia Owens. Wit: Daniel Wright, Robert Burton and Asa Wright. This Will, I found, has thrown a bombshell in the Brockman set. The publushed genealogy of the Borckman family (In which I got first Collins clue) says John Brockmand died in 1825 and that a thoro search had been made for his will in NC and Va. but it had never been found...The genealogy does not list the children as they ar in this will and some of the Brockmans try to tell me this is another Brockman. Look at the data I sent you and in G and H which I got from the book, Genealogy of the Brockman family, compare it and with the will and send me you opinion. Since John Brockman is a grandson of Capt. Joseph and had wedded gr. children in 1800 your William may also be a grandson and also the Rev. Lewis Collins. This all has put me to studying and wa may have to solve a missing generation. Granville marriages: Thomas Collins 1788 Peggy Wyans Thomas Collins 1790 Elizabeth Tisdale John Collins 1790 Nancy Rast Green This is about all the Granville NC Collins Data. Now who is this Elizabeth Tisdale for there is not Tisdale land or other data in Granville. Who is this Thomas Collins and did his 1st wife die and he wed again? Your William had a son Thomas. They Gayden wed a sister of his and also Gayden wed Lois Collins, Dau. of Lewis. this my be your Thomas, brother of Reuben. Where did he get the Tisdale wife? More in a minute. Lori

My conjecture is that all these where related. I wonder if Uriah's pappy was in this bunch and which were hise brothers? Som day I am going to work a jigsaw puzzle and piece together a bunch of all those Conner women I have been sending names of and match them up with some of these men for I hate to see so many Conners living in unmatched Bliss. I do not note Alexander Conner who Married Jane Bradley in census but he lived in Abbeville along Edgefield line. What about old man Bill O'Conner in Laurens-I wonder if had not got rid of the O by 1790? He was of the Cokesbury Set. By 1790 it seems that Boley et. al had gone to Franklin Co., GA. >From the Parish Book of the Episcopal Church of the Reddemer, Orangeburg, SC- The Rev. Thomas Tisdale, pastor. Hans Ulrick born 10 April 1751 being the son of Felix Morff and his wife Margaret was baptized in this church 3 Nov 1751. God Fathers, John Heller and John Gissendanner. God Mother Margaret wife of Peter Larry. In Episcopal Church a boy has 2 godfathers and 1 god monter while a girl had 1 godfather and 2 god mothers. These were most likely close relatives or dear friends of the family. 24 DEc 1750 was married in this church Henry Westine to Barbara Morff, the widow of the late Hans Ulrick Morff. Witnesses-Henry Haym. Casper Kuhn, Peter moores and others. My idea is that she is the mother of Felix Morff for he named his by Hans Ulrick. 5 June 1750 Jacob Murff was married in this church to Christini Hesse, spinster. Witnesses-Michael Christopher Rowe, Henry Gellman Et.AL. Note the Rowe family later on. All members who did not make their Easter Communion were excommunicated. Token were given out with a number and was left at the alter rail when Holy Communion was received. A member could fulfil his obligation ot make his Easter Communion from Easter Day until Trinity Sunday. Some few lists of those making their communions is in the Church book. Sunday 15 April 1753. Felix Morff and his wife held token #49 and fulfilled their Easter duty by receiving Holy Communion today. Easter day 7 April 1751 Baptized Maria, the daughter of Richard Hainsworth (Haynesworth) and his wife Elizabeth Hessse (as I foun out late in marriage records) God father, Michel Christopher Rowe. Apparently, these surnames do run with some of the Collins. Instead of just pulling out the Collins info. I have been emailing it ALL. I hope no one objects to this, and will find it helpful, if not now, maybe sometime down the road. I will be back typing shortly. Thanks, Lori

This is very likely your Murff for if you look at the birth date of the Murff in your lines, you will see that the John Murff, if he died at Cowpens, his son would had had to have been born before that battle or very near it which would make that son and old man when his child, your direct ancestor was born...Mr. Salley says this is the John Murff o the will I sent you from Charleston. 2. From: PJB4KWB@aol.com I am researching a Rice COLLINS. b 1855/58 in KY. He was an orphan. He always said he had 2 sisters and his parents both died. They were put in an orphanage and he ran away never to see the sisters again. I know I'm drawing at straws here, but could your COLLINS who seem to disappear be my parents of Rice, since Rice is a form if Richard? Thank youPeggy Brown pjb4kwb@aol.com

    3. During April of 1998 I was fortunate to visit the Isle of Wight courthouse in VA. I recorded a number of records and they are on my computer. If you send your email address I can send you an attachment. I also have Lunenburg county and I think Amelia county. Alice

    3. Some sweet soul is putting parts of the Leonardo Andrea file on the list Mr Andrea did genealogy research for a number of people including the southern line of the Collins family. This Collins file is very large and I have found one error. I have about a half dozen pages from the file to put into the computer. By next week it will be finished. I can send the entire file as an attachment if you send your email address to me off the list. You can then print it out if you want. None of this is guaranteed to be accurate and any data you receive like this should be checked out. However Andrea has for the most part told where the records are and this is included in the file. 3. Hi Cousins, I have enjoyed the listings of Collin wills being put on line, none are mine, but I admire the effort to have put them on. My idea may seem nuts but here goes-- How many of us live where we are able to copy the obits of bygone days? Here in Cleveland (OH). I would be able to copy first the ones from 1833 to 1951 (one roll of film): then copy of the ones from 1952 to 1975. The newer ones are on computer. We could, with the listower's permission, put on line a index of "our" list and offer to give a full report on the name if anyone desired. In this way, thousands of "Collins" would be available for research without too much backbreaking work by any one peron. Like I said - Just a nutty idea--maybe----- Eleanor

    2. CC: NCBERTIE-L@rootsweb.com (Virginia Crilley) Hi Brenda, There are two publications on the Collins/Bissell families, the first one was published in 1983 by William Collins Sr. Washington DC, the second publication was in 1985 by Paul Sluby Sr. Genealogist Washington DC. Have you seen these? If not maybe your local library can order them for you to review. Samuel Collins Sr. immigrated from Scotland or Ireland about 1760, married Grace Hamilton Samuel Collins also born in Scotland or Ireland 1753-1825 (m) Agnes Thompson John S. 1755, born in Scotland or Ireland (m) Isabella Currie Margaret (m) Samuel Stewart in Ohio Elizabeth 1757, born in Scotland or Ireland (m)? William 1762-1822, (m) Lydia Manifold their home was listed as a station during the underground railroad, in Penn. Agnes Collins ? Issabell and (m) William McPherson,no years listed. Ann Collins (m) Andrew Wallace With the exception of John S. Collins 1755 all the offspring of these children are identified. John S. Collins and his wife were the present Collins connection in York Co, Penn. This line starts from William Collins Sr. ( There are no dates) whose family was from Irish beginings, and the Bissell's who were of Native Ancestry, ie Tuscaroran. His father was John Francis Collins (m) Alice Hatchett whose father was Russell Hatchett, and mother was Betty Gee, there are no future references on Betty for mother or father.. John F. Collins father was John Bembry Collins (m) Georganna Artis whose father was Leonidas Williams, mother was Sally Artis John B. Collins father was William K. Collins (m) Jane Bissell whose father was John Bissell, mother listed only as Sarah William K. Collins father was John S. Collins (m) Margaret Gemmill no further reference. 2. NCBERTIE-L@rootsweb.com Hi Brenda, My, my! You certainly do have a history! You're as bad as me, that's good when it comes to ancestreal lines! Let me explain myself, sorry for the puzzle! Ok not only are some of the Collins Native, and in the Southern Band Tuscarora, but the Pattersons are in the Tuscarora in Lewiston NY, they are Onieda/Tuscarora, and I do believe they are the Snipe Clan. The Lyons are Onondaga in Six Nations, Oren Lyons is the FireKeeper of Six Nations Grand Council...And these Clans did migrate north after the Tuscarora Uprising 1711-1713. And all of the Iroquoian do go off their matrileneal (mothers) bloodline, the children are always called by the Mothers Clan. The husbands go to their wife's Clans, and if they split he returns to his mothers. Marilyn -

    2. Levi and Nancy (Johnson) Collins lived in Logan,Boone, and Lincoln Counties of WV from 1840-1895. This article deals mainly with evidence about Levi’s parents. An article highlighting Levi’s and Nancy’s lives, and giving more of their descendants will be published in late 1989 in the History of Lincoln Counties of West Virginia According to family traditions ( Julis Collins Dotson , Spurlockville, WV) Levi was born a Mullins and raised by a Collins family, and he may have been part Cherokee. On the 1860 census of Boone Co. WV , his birthplace is given as Kentucky. Birthdates caluculate from the censuses are 1816-1815-1818 and 1815. Pike Co. Ky was formed from Floyd Co. in 1822. Court orders of Floyd Co. from 1810-1840 do not include any family binding out or other “adoptions” of a Mullins child by a Collins family. However, by matching roadwork court orders and a 1835 tax list to the census, some clues are turned up.On the 1835 tax list Levi and Archibald Collins are listed between James COOK and John CANTRELL. The only household having a “C” surname and listed between Cook and Cantrell on the 1830 census is that headed by AMY COLLINS.It includes one male Levi’s age(15-19) A June court order named several men who were to locate a road to pass around the farms of William Collins and Jack Mullins. By matching the named men to the 1830 census, it is apparent that William Collins farm was occupied by the Amy Collins household. Next door was the John Mullins Sr. household. Court orders from December 1829 and February 1833 also associates Archibald Collins with Amy Collins household. A Februry1823 court order associates John and William to this farm. NOTE: I believe Levi to be the last son of Meredith Collins and common law wife Milly Johnson. Per court order 1829 when Meredith and Milly had to show just cause why Merdy Johnson Collins should not be bound out. (Meredith Levi or Levi Meredith) Levi,Archibald,William and JOHN all children of Meredith Collins . Who is AMY? Amy could be one of the two unnamed daughters of Meredith.......possibly the widow of son Edward Collins who married a Amy or Anna Justice..........possibly the first wife of my JOHN that I have never been able to locate. Amy appears to be the head of household on the census of Pike Co. in 1830, Russell Co. Virginia in 1840, and back to Pike Co. in 1850, the latter yeilding her birthdate as 1796 and birthplace Virginia. William Collins, who owned the farm, was likely the William Collins known to be the son of Meredith b.1760 Va. a RevWar Vetran and d. in 1840-1 in Pike Co. KY. Meredith had two daughters, both names unknown. One daughter by second wife Polly HOLLOWAY was b. 1794-1800. Amy could have been her. He also had a son Archibald b. 1800 in Russell Co. Va.Meredith is also linked to Levi by name matches between Meredith’s and Levi’s sons, and by real estate transactions between Meredith’s son William and Levi. By matching the 1820 census (p37) with the 1830 census (p367-368) it appears that William Collins farm(Amy Collins household) was occupied by Harrison NEWSOME in 1820. In 1827Meredith Collins sold two 50 acre tracts to Harrison Newsome, one which included or was near the “Collins house” (deed book A p. 341-342, deed book A1, p. 1) Levi Collins and Nancy Johnson were married in Pike Co. on October 2, 1836. A roadwork court order can be interpreted to indicate that they lived with Meredith Collins September 1837. In October 1838 Meredith was declared a “poor person” and probably moved in with Richard P. Robinson. The last record left by Levi Collins in Pike Co. Ky is that 1837 court order NOTE: Does this mean that it was Levi Collins that had Meredith declared a poor man and a guardian appointed by the court? Levi’sfirst record in Logan Co. Va/WV is the 1840 census. Also appearing on the Logan co census for the first time was George Collins, whose “wife” was older than he. This was the same George Collins that lived near Meredith in 1830 Pike Co. KY, and who returned to Pike Co. KY in 1850, where his birthdate was revealed to be 1793 and his birthplace Virginia. His wife Elizabeth Right b. 1790 in Tennessee.
