    2. Hi Carol ~ What part of Indiana is New Albney? My COLLINS family was living near Evansville from the mid 1800's to early 1900's. This would have been Warrick County, IN. I don't have many male COLLINS' from that time, but the father of this family was Jonas S. COLLINS. He had two boys in the 1840's, Slaughter Jonas and Salvin Wyeth. Slaughter was a Union soldier in the Civil War. Both were farmers near Newburgh, and had many children. Also, Slaughter's ggrandson's middle name was "Harold". 2. Eleanor Szekely
    3. Hi Listers(especially cousins willing to help). We got the ok from the head man, so lets go forward! How say that on this coming Thursday ( just picked off the top of my head after I realized next Sunday might not be good) we try to list obits for ALL COLLINS with the first name starting with "A" found in your area papers from the time that paper started. My thought is that it would look somewhat like this: Collins, Abe----Feb. 10, 1903 " Adam-Sep. 25. 1978 " Anna--May 06, 1943 To make this work, we need as many volunteers, covering as many newspapers as possible. Remember somewhere is the record of death YOU have been searching for. Thanks to all the volunteers already aboard. "See " you on Thursday. Eleanor

    1. OLD OBITS ON LIST
    2. Eleanor Szekely
    3. Hi Craig, First let me say I am sorry for sending mail to the wrong address, to tell the truth, it is where the HELPDESK advised me to mail to. On January 23th, I made the suggestion that any of us who are able to, make copies of all the old obits our paper (usually on files in Library) of COLLINS. We would index them, then put the index on the list, offering to e-mail the full obit privately. So far, there are four of us willing to do this. NOW, the question is, IS this alright with you? My thoughts are it would be best if we pick a certain day, maybe one you say is slower, and put them on in alphabetical order, one or two letters on one day, and the next letter/s a different day or following week. Is it alright to do this on the list? I have no way of knowing how many this would turn out to be. Would you prefer us putting this on one of the COLLINS links you set up, but I have lost the addresses to, when I changed off the computer. Your thoughts, please. Thanks. Eleanor Always searching for Patrick Collins (PA)

By all means go right ahead anyway that is most preferable to each of you! Don't worry about me, as about the only thing that I do worry about from time to time is whether or not something may be under copyright protection. Thus far, each time that I have contacted any newspaper having published an obituary in question, each has advised so long as nothing was being sold commercially, they had no objection. I can't say whether all newspapers might feel this way or not, so please do be careful when posting obits later than about 1923 or so, to check with the publishing newspaper whenever possible so as to protect Rootsweb in this regard. >My thoughts are it would be best if we pick a certain day, maybe one you >say is slower, and put them on in alphabetical order, one or two letters >on one day, and the next letter/s a different day or following week. > Is it alright to do this on the list?
