    1. [COLLINS] Daniel Markham + Edward Collins (1) [!!!]
    2. Bart Simon
    3. MGC: http://linux02.lib.cam.ac.uk/earlscolne/names/S962.htm [This took me the whole day!!!]: I spent quite a bit of time going through these records, noticing the pattern of baptismal entries change. I have gone through a lot of other families to see the pattern with their entries. The overall pattern is very clear. It seems that up to say 31-12-1639, the entries were usually written like this: [Wm son of Thos Jibbs and Joan Jibbs christened 6.12.1639], if the same fictional person here was born one year later (From 01-01-1640), the record would be written like this: [Wm Jibbs son of Thos and Joan christened 6.12.1640]. Just one of many random checks, check out the url link above, and you will see how the pattern changes. It therefore means that we are clearly no longer looking at two separate lines of Markham in EC, but rather, but now proves that Daniel Markham is the son of Jas Markham (Attorney) + Martha Collines, she being 'Goodwife Markham'. This change in style actually proves who DM is. Now it makes more sense than ever. It also means Martha 'Goodwife' (Collins) Markham, is the sister of Sibill (Colenes) Linck(/Linck) who m. Henery Linck in London. I seriously doubt this will change now for DM of EC. The change in entries is right from the first entry for Jan 1640. Check it out !. [Jn Russell married to Phoebe Collin 29.4.1624 in EC]: This John Russell is (1597-1680). Phoebe Collins is (1604-1642). Some of year dates might be one year out to yours. Phoebe Collins should be Martha Collins sister or first cousin. It just seems that Deacon Edward Collins actually must have a sister Sibill Colones and Martha Collins, or first cousins. Now if I have the right Sibill Collens m. to Hen. Linck/Linch of London, and they m. at St. Peter le Poer, I suspect that they were living in this area. I went and made a whole long list today of Collins in London, etc., and there was one that looked good, and marked it out of the others. Afterwards, I thought I must really find out where Broad and Bread Streets are, and St. PtP. This St. PtP church is in Austin Friars Road, which runs off Broad Street. If you go on Broad Street into Threadneedle, into Poultry into Cheapside, virtually a straight line, there is a shortish road named Bread Street just off Cheapside. So what might be a good idea, is to locate all of the nearby churches, and look into those records for connections for Collins. This area is near London Bridge. I am not sure here at all, but at the north end of (old) Broad Street is Woomwood, and just over there abouts is St. Botolph* and very close to that is St. Botolph's without Cripplegate. *Would that St. Botolph one be the [Saint Botolph Bishopsgate, London] ?. I think this is right ?. [SIBILLA COLLENS Christening: 24 MAY 1604 Saint Botolph Bishopsgate, London, England. Father: JOHNE COLLENS]: My tree suggests that this should be the [John Collins + Madglen Trehone/Grace Wagger]: The problem I have with this though, I have just seen, is that she is b:24-05-1604 the same year as Phoebe Collins b:03-03-1604. She seems to be of the same family though. This looks and feels like the Sibill I am looking for. This family must be living in London at least. This is all the same very close area. So John Collins must be living around here too at this time of 1604. It is interesting to note that no wife is mentioned. I am also thinking there is a missing son John Collins for John Collins + Madglen Trehone/Grace Wagger line. I don't have a son John Collins for this John Collins (!!!). And he must be living at the north end of Broad Street, whilst Linck is nearer to St. PtP on the west side of middle Broad Street. In the simplest of terms, Daniel Markham of EC has an uncle Edward Collins, and Martha Collins is either his sister, half sister, or first cousin outside. It should be this simple. That Phoebe Collins (m. John Russell) in EC is also the sister if Edward Collins. I will now be following what I see as a fact, that DM of EC is the son of JM + MC of EC. I am not following him as such anymore, and now want to know where his mother was born ?. London seems a good place to look. The b. date for Martha Collins should be about 1594-1611, as best as I can make it. You will notice even Martha Collins Markham has a dg Phoebe Markham. Can the UK + US Markhams come to the fore here, and submit every single b. info for any Martha Collins anywhere, so we can get a list to follow ?. I will make a list. Some chance her father might be a John Collens/Collins. Martha Collins has to be ... ... ... [Take a breathe Super Ken !!!], ... .... ... the 'sister' of Deacon Edward Collins, how else can Daniel Markham have an uncle Deacon Edward Collins and his mother is a Martha Collins ?. Daniel Markham has gone to NE with his uncle (also a merchant), the brother of his mother, probably in uncle's big boat. ['Take care of my son brother Ed.', she said with oceans of tears in her eyes.]. I do see association between James Markham of EC and Abraham Markham there. The Prentiss + Ames families need review. I did read recently, and only a thought, that Ames, etc., might actually be 'Adams' in some cases in EC. My next question is: 'Who is Martha Collins' ?. - S.K.M. - [!!!] ==================

Harlakenden does not say Mr. Linch's sister, she says 'theire' sister. If Goodwife Markham was his sister, she would just say his sister. But she says 'theire' which then must pertain to his wife ?. Surely, but don't call me Shirley ?. So, is Goodwife Markham then Martha Collins ?. Mr. Linch's wife seems to be Sibel Colenes of St. Peter le Poer area London. In 1643 she would be the [and his (Daniel Collins') niece Sibill Linch (Sibel Colenses)] ?. She is coming to visit her sister who is ill in 1649. Martha Collins Markham probably only d:1669. But, Martha Collins Markham might not have a son Daniel Markham, it is the other Martha \\ Markham. I means you have the right Martha Collins in EC, who isn't the mother of Daniel Markham of EC (!!!). I am taking it that this so far would refer to Martha COLLINS of EC. It then means, that if we do in fact have TWO James Markham both m. a Martha, both living in EC around this TL, then the Attorney Jas Markham who m. Martha Collins in EC, i the family referred to here. It is not Jas Markham 'Weaver' who m. Martha \\ and they had a son Daniel Markham. If this is the case, it means that neither of the James Markham of EC have any further input or value to this area of research as such. It means we are in the wrong place. The TL for Sibel and Martha is a very close match: m. 1635 and 1632 resp. It means that we can drop EC off into the ocean.... However, having said that, if this Martha Collins Markham did have a son Daniel Markham of EC, then it would work out exactly right, and Edward Collins would be his uncle. So what do I do ?. I am going to follow what I have found and so far understand by it all. This is not our Daniel Markham here in EC. Also Daniel Collins saying 'the w. of cousin Markham', this probably does NOT refer to Martha Collins Markham in EC. Martha Collins Markham must also be the niece? of Daniel Collins then too ?. My gr.gr grandmother was Nancy Collins born 1822 in VA. The brother I think I have a lead on was Enoch born 1834 in Ohio. Newspaper article says he died (murdered) Dec. 1889 in Missouri.
