Mye Goodye Cosynes !!! Hello Doris !!!. Thank you for the question. I will answer briefly. You are lucky to have this typed letter which takes you straight back into England. My initial feelings when reading this letter: I feel that this was probably written by someone about 3G's up from yourself, that the person is female, mid-life to elderly, but the furthest memory for the top of this tree might be slightly faded, in other words, remembering an old memory might not be correct to the true fact, and the memory would be close in some way, but not correct. Keeping this in mind, I would step down the scale one notch to the next much more clearly known person being Timothy Collins. My question is: Is there a m. for one James Collins to Sarah Brooks anywhere ever in England for 1700-1800 ?. What I can tell you, is that one: = Timothy Collins m:10-12-1749 to Elizabeth Brooks at Saint Benet Pauls Wharf, London, England. = Timothy Collins Chr:09-10-1754, St. Sepulchre, London, England. Father: Timothy Collins. Mother: Elizabeth (Brooks?). [SKM Says: This should be yours !!!] = Blackfriars is on the n. side of the Thames River next to the river, the main road going straight up n. is Farmingdon/New Bridge Street, a way up take a sharp right into Holburn Viaduct, and just there is the [St. Sepulchre church] I think it is. If you go from Blackfriars on Farmingdon/New Bridge Street going n., shortly take a sharp right into Queen Victoria Street, take a sharp right into White Lion Hill, which is next to [Saint Benet Pauls Wharf church]. === [Oh...don't go yet! Your posts are so very interesting and I've been putting off asking if you have come across a Timothy Collins b 1754, Blackfriar Bridge son of James Collins. I know this is 100 years past what you are working on but I have to ask.]. Family Lore: (Copied from typed papers Don't know who is writing this. DG): My great, great grandfather was James Collins. His wife was Sarah Brooks. They lived at Blackfrair Bridge, London; were clothiers and haberdashers. They had a daughter and two sons. The daughter, Sarah, married a man named Smith, who moved to Australia, died there without issue, in 1821 leaving money in England Chancery Court. Their two sons having just completed their education. Timothy, my great grandfather had decided on learning the silversmithing and Joseph had decided to take charge of the business, with his father, but they were walking on the street when a captain named Spencer invited them to a pleasure trip. They were going to try out a new vessel. They went and found they were pressed in to the English Army to fight the Americans. My grandfather was made a clerk on the trip over but his brother was never seen after, but grandfather was captured by Indians who made him run the gauntlet and whipped him if he did not beat in the race. He was in captivity 7 months, when he escaped. Joined the American Army and fought under Cols. Hall and Dorsey for which he received a pension as Sargent. My mother remembered seeing a suit of black broadcloth all finished only to seam up for grandfather Timothy; also a dark Green broadcloth cloak with capes to be finished; same for her. Sent by Grandfather and mother in England, to save duty. They lived in Blairsville, Indiana Twn, Westmoreland Co PA at this time. Mother was about 14 or 15 then. They were neighbors of the Livingstons there. === I do not know how Joseph Collins fits in, I suppose one might have to just look a bit around in other nearby churches. You will need to decide your own ancestor.... Cheers - SKM [!!!] ====================
MGC: Hats must have been a huge business in London in the 1600's. To answer some questions: === Daniell Collins made a small pedigree himself where he clearly calls his father "John Collyns of London, Salter = Abigail, dau. of Thos, Rose of Exmouth, co. Devon, 3d wife.": Does he ?. What is the ref. for that ?. The 1596 deed in Clarence Lyman Collens' Collins Memorial on p. 143, refers to him as "John Collens, of Bramford, sailcloth maker."- Both documents have Abigail attached to the said John Collins, so it would appear that he was at one time a salter and later a sailcloth maker. => This much I know: He is the father of Daniel Collins: [John Collens, of Bramford, sailcloth maker]. Drop the 'Salter of London' right off for the time being. Further: Firstly, whoever wrote this 'Pedigree of Dr. Collins', had a plane to catch. He was in a hurry. The person, probably male, wrote a small tree, with mistakes corrected. Neither does he indicate who the Dr. Collins is. The Dr. Collins should be the Dr. Samuel Collins (d: Paris) son of the Rev. Samuel Collins, Vicar of Braintree Essex. Pedigree: Meaning: ['A chart of an individual's ancestors']. It shows Dr. Collins ancestors, but he does not show himself in the article, which is rushed and sloppy. Neither does it mention a single sister. The Dr. Samuel Collins by this time, would have made sure to obviously mention his own father the Vicar, and also DC, from whom by now, since Katherine Francknell might have died, Dr. Collins would have received his inheritance. Can anyone show me evidence that Daniel Collins had a child?: Daniel Collins has no offspring at all it seems. DC's w. died before him, not after him. DC's [sister Katherine Francknell] is the dg of Thomas Francknell + Suzan Okeover (Oker) who was elderly and unmarried, see my last post where I explained it correctly, I doubt that will change there. [sister Katherine Francknell] father dies the same year his last son of the same name is born, this son is also named Thomas Francknell. Those other ''sisters'' of DC, like say Chibball and Ford, etc., are the married surnames of [Katherine Francknell]'s blood sisters. === Elizabeth Francknell m. ? Ford. Suzan Francknell m. ? Chibball. Sibbill Francknell m. [???!!!???]. Dorothie Francknell m. ? Shaker. Katherine Francknell m. unmarried. [DC's 'sister']. [Anne Francknell]. [Rowlande Francknell]. [Thomas Francknell] [***]. [All above are blood brothers + sisters, children from TF + SO]. === All of the above information here should be correct from my [Specs] posts. DC had no surviving child or any known child at all. It is this chap to whom the ref. refers: [***]. === Having for the first time, taken time to sit down and find out where all these churches are, has drawn a serious pattern. Using Broad Street a center-piece, just a bit n. of it, all w. of it. all e. of it, this whole region is where just about everything is hitting all round. I am going to call this general area of concern ''L1''. -R: My feeling is that this Collins family is here for a while here in L1. At least 1G up or more. What is interesting here in L1, is one Anthony Markham, Gent. This is almost undoubtedly the Noble Markham Line of Fame. We must also remember that no-one I know of, has connected yet to this line of fame, including the Archbishop's line, who did not know who his (grt-)grt-grandfather was, and seems to have assumed the Markham arms, if anything. But for this (NL) Anthony Markham Gent. here: [All taken from St. Mary Woolnoth]: (bp) 1649 July 31. Anna, daughter of Anthony Markham, Gentleman, and Frances his wife, (daughter to Mr. Sweete.). This whole Dr. Mason etc., also sounds like part of the Mason-Wrench-Markham tree (Peter Yorke Wrench TX) whose line connected to my Markham line in early Rhodesia. This Bowes family here in L1 is huge. - S.K.M. - [!!!] ======================

It might be the case that Henry Linch is 17 years older than his wife. This [St. Mary Whitechapel Stepney] seems to have been just a small chapel. The surname of Kyng and French is well present all round. This gap in years for Hnery Linch + Sibill Colenes would explain much of the gap in TL if one Martha Collins of EC was her 'sister'. Come on, let us find out who 'our' Henery Linch' is ?. And moreso, who are the parents of his wife Sibill. DC gives her a lot of money, the use of his home if she stays unmarried, for the rest of her life with no rent, but if she marries, she must forfeit all of this, her husband would have to pay all the bills, and DC's nephew Samuel Collins would then benefit from this affair. MGC: I am wondering just how high flying this line of Collins must be ?. I hope to cover several 'connected families' if possible. The [Ward - Russell - Palgrave - Collins - Markham - Beadle - Smith - Cory - Taylor - Francknell - Francklyn - etc.] families seem to be huge. MGC: Firstly, thank you Dale for that DC will, it has many things that have helped me already in my poor oldye mindye to sorte oute. I do feel we now have the right DC b. in Bramford. http://books.google.co.za/books?id=qygCm4iVO2MC&pg=PA439&dq=Samuel+Collins+firmin&cd=10#v=onepage&q=Samuel%20Collins%20firmin&f=false [See both pages 438-439]. [Take Good Note]: I have been working a lot with patterns, an want to point something out here, this should have great value one fine day. The WoDC tells me his father is clearly one John Collins, and I do not know who his mother is right now. DC [bp:12-05-1583] must have a brother JC [bp:25-03-1569] and a brother SC [bp:19-12-1580]. which seems to be right. We know from the Taylor ref. and also WoDC, that there is one John Collins hanging around the whole time. I think this is his brother. I have a feeling this brother John Collins d:1642, after DC made his will in 1639, and a year before DC d:1643 or so. The WoDC was never changed, either way, this seems to be his brother John Collins. [NB!!!]: But for the ref. above, this does seem to be Samuell Collins [Vicar of Braintree]. Samuell Collins [1580] brother of DC, was Vicar of Braintree from 1611-1657. Have you got those dates !!!. Due to the 3 or more contemporary Samuel Collins, use the dates I am giving out here, I spent a lot of time on this. Romford will a place to further search out. Here in Romford, Samuel Collins, Curate + Preacher 1605-1611. That is him I am certain. So before he rose to fame as Vicar of Braintree, he was Curate + Preacher of Romford (!!!). His last year in Romford as Curate was 1611, and then the same year he was made Vicar of Braintree. As the one ends, the next one starts.... The John Collins Curate of Romford (1613), has to be of serious serious near kin, I think his brother (!!!). This SC VoB is (1580-1657). His son Dr. Samuel Collins is (1619-1670) and died in Paris. Use these dates (!!!). Pgs. 438-9: Check out both pages: Robert Sanwell (See St. PleP too), Nicholas Palgrave, Anthony Warde, John Fermyn (Firmin). Make note of them. For DC to be buried with so many other family members in St. PleP, there will be a huge connection to the clergy there and elsewhere. Artes, Dale, -R, etc.: Just add a sister Katherine Collins for Daniel Collins. [To my brother Samuell Collins Vicar of Braintree Twentie pounds. To his sonne Sam: a hundred pounds. To his five Children each a hundred pounds a peece.]: You will notice here that there must be 5 kids, I only know 3 of them. Who are the other 2 ?. [Samuell Pordage Overseer]: I assume this is right and not 'Overseas' ?. I need to ask the question: When did the baptismal records start for Braintree Essex ?. If say a Martha Collins was b. in Braintree Essex say 1605-1611, does a register exist for this TL ?. Can we get an answer on that one ?. We should have the correct Daniel Markham of EC here it seems, we just need to know which brother of Daniel and Samuel Collins has a dg Martha (!!!). I suspect Martha Collins father is possibly a John Collins. Actually, if you can just find out who [Sibel Colenes] who m. [Henery Licnke/Linch] father is, you will probably be home. We need to know this item. This is a most interesting tree. DC's wife d. before him. I think I might be confusing him with Thomas Francknell having a son TF after TF snr d. There is a [Sermon of his at the Funeral of Mr. Samuel Collins Vicar of Braintree, who died 1657]: This proves his d. date. This SC seems to be 'cousin' to Mark Mott. The greatest pattern for this Collins family by far, is found in the church positions to the area of London shown. === Samuel Collins (1619-1670), author of the 'Present State of Russia' born in 1619, was the eldest son of Samuel Collins, vicar of Braintree, Essex, who appears to have surrendered his living in 1661, died 2 May 1667 [<= 1667 dates are for his father !!!]. Samuel Collins was admitted to Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, in 1635; took no degree in that university; afterwards graduated M.D. at Padua; and was incorporated M.D. of Oxford 24 June 1659. It would appear that about 1660 he met in Holland Gebden, the commissary of the Russian court, who was gathering a band of celebrated men to serve the Czar Alexis, father of Peter the Great, at Moscow. Collins accepted Gebden's invitation to settle in Russia, and for nine years he acted as the Czar's physician. Many honours and rewards were given him, but in 1669 he left Moscow for England. He soon afterwards made a journey to France, and died at Paris on 26 Oct. 1670. A brass mural tablet containing an inscription to his memory was set up, in accordance with the instructions in his will, outside the eastward of Braintree Church. Collins's only book - The Present State of Russia, in a Letter to a Friend at London, written by an eminent person residing at the Great Tzar's Court at Moscow for the space of nine years. Illustrated with many copper plates - was first published in London after the author's death in 1671. It is a very entertaining account of life in the Russian court, and was issued in a French translation in 1679. Dorman Newman, the original publisher, according to his own statement, received the manuscript from 'a gentleman that attended upon the learned Dr. C. all the time of his being with the emperor of Russia.' It was distributed into chapters and sections by 'some that were learned and skilful' but the doctor's death before 'it came to press' compelled Newman to employ 'another worthy person' to transcribe the manuscript and see it through the press. Although the title-page bears no author's name, Collins is stated to be the writer in the publisher's advertisement at the end of the book. === The above is the most accurate info I can find. I am not sure if this Dr. Samuel Collins son of Samuel Collins vicar of Braintree is actually buried in Braintree, but he did die in Paris. I think there is just a monumental stone (Not a grave stone !!!) in Braintree to his memory. The SC VoB was not just there for a year or two, he was there for 46+ years. That's almost half a century. Is Martha Collins his dg ?. He has 5 kids, Samuel, John?, Lucy?, so who are the other 2 ?. I am still seeing that the Jas Markham of EC 'Weaver' who m. Martha, and has a son Mathew, is not the Attorney Jas Markham at least. This may or may not be the Attorney's son. - S.K.M. - [!!!] ====================

-------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: [MARKHAM-UK] Who is Susan Taylor ? [!!!] > I do have a full copy of the Daniel Collins' will as provided in the above > TAG article. Would you like me to type it out for you? Actually yes, we do need this. How long is it ?. I need to see the original texts to see what he actually says without anyone adding to it. Or a scanned zipped version that can be printed, and can be uploaded to Yippy. Can we even get the actual photo of the original will ?. I am also thinking from day one that whilst these are 2 different surnames, there could be a slip up here of the writer. Daniel Collins w. is given to be [Sybill Francklin], but I currently sit with [Sibbill Francknell of St. Mary Woolnoth] chr:19-06-1586 with no more info etc. (!!!). DC would then be 3 yrs older than her. It seems that somehow if [sister Chiball, brother and sister Crabtree, sister Pordage, and brother Francknell] is the case, I think it means that there are obviously more m. to be looked at all round, for instance: m:27-04-1567 John Francklin and Elyn Phillippes. [DC married Sybil Franklyn, daughter of Thomas Franklyn, a goldsmith of London]: We have our Thomas Francknell Goldsmith which is correct, and he has a dg Sybil to whom nothing is connecting. So the question is simple: Is there a Thomas Franklyn, a goldsmith of London who has a dg Sybil from primary record ?. The FRANKLYN family is clearly in St. P le P don't forget. Or, can we get the primary record for DC m. in 1633 ?. What is his wife's surname ?. And I am just wondering: That Sibill Collins next to him is probably his wife ?. Also, does DC refer to [Samuel Collins as 'my cousin Collins minister of Braintree'] ?. It then means DC's brother Samuel Collins is open. Because one of these SC's could be the father of Martha + Sibill Collins. OK, let me leave it there, we have to know these things. SKM. ====================================
MGC: There is not a small pattern here, but an immense pattern here working from Broad Street in London. Humongous. Going through patterns took me too [St. Margaret Parish Church in Lothbury London]. Well, once you look it up to see where Lothbury is, it is just down the drag from St. Peter le Poer in Austin Friar's Street just off (Old) Broad Street. Now, just where Austin Friars goes off from Broad Street, just below AF's, is Throgmorton Street, which becomes Lothbury (Street/Road). So, if you shoot down into Lothbury just after Tokenhouse on the right is [St. Margaret Parish Church in Lothbury London]. If you take a sharp left into Prince's Street is [The Worshipful Co. of Grocers]. Going down Lothbury again take a sharp left into [Old Jewry] and then a sharp right into [St. Olave's Pl.]. All of the churches in this entire region should be holding many of your (dna) Collins Cousins. Somewhere very near to this [St. Margaret Parish Church in Lothbury London] is [Cornhill] it seems. When looking for records, also include spelling of [Markham, Markam, Marcom] etc. and [Collins, Collyns, Collens !!!] etc. The Collens one is the one I would keep in mind the most wherever you see it, but names will change depending just on location and who wrote it. [Later On]: OK, I see it I think, Cornhill is also a road name here too. So, if you are in Broad Street go s., sharp left into Threadneedle Street, sharp right into Finch Lane, which crosses over Cornhill (Road) and becomes Birchen Lane, and when at Lombard St., you arrive at [St. Mary Woolnoth Church]. The clear pattern of churches I have taken time to find out where they are, are all showing up in close proximity. From St. P leP to St. Mary Woolnoth must be less than 500m. So [Cornhill] here must pertain to the road named just [Cornhill] it seems, which is like only abot 3 blocks from Woolnoth church. === [Mr. Ralph Collins, apothecary in Lothbury]. [John Underwood, of the Middle Temple, Gent , 'Widower, 53, & Mary Collins, of S' Margaret's, Lothbury, London, "Widow, 51 , at any parish church or ...]. === This should be interesting to some: [Rough Notes]: It must have been about 1467-87 somewhere there, that an older Sir Ralph Jocelyn in this same region we are looking at, along with the famous Judge Sir John Markham, with the trial of Sir Thomas? Cooke was it, that people were trying to lay false claims against Thomas? Cooke basically to get money from him since he was very rich. The Judge went against all, Cooke got off, and the Judge was demoted. But is here that the Judge Sir John Markham is connected to [Sir Ralph Jocelyn] here in London. This [Sir Ralph Jocelyn] would be the ancestor of the family in Earls Colne, and he also had a castle or fortress built in Gidea Hall (I think it was?) near Romford Essex. The John Markham found in EC records should clearly be this same Judge John Markham. But the Judge seems only to be judging here. http://books.google.co.za/books?id=BoUBAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA242&dq=meaning:+apothecary&as_brr=3&cd=9#v=onepage&q=meaning%3A%20apothecary&f=false [Dr. John Collins who married Judith Saxon (or Easton) of Surrey, and is listed in Citizens of London]: Her first married surname is EASTON or sometime ESTON. But she is widow Easton, her first husband was [John Easton, Grocer, of Fulham Middlesex]. [Mr. John Collins, Dr. of Physick, a bachelor aged 40 years, and Judith ... widow, aged 30, relict of John Easton, grocer, deceased at Michaelmas last ...], [Judith Easton widow of John Easton of Fulham, Middlesex m:07-08-1616 to John Collins.]. This Dr. John Collins was aet.40yrs when he got m:1616, so would be b:1576, which he is (!!!). I am taking it that Francknell and Francklyn etc., are two separate surnames. But here is the essence of this post: ===== [St. Mary Woolnoth] Church in London: Add this to the short list of precise churches to look into. It is here we will find [Thomas Francknell, Goldsmith], and he seems to be a [Churchwarden] for the [St. Mary Woolnoth] church. There is also one Thomas Francknell 'Clothworker' d:1608. [St. Mary Woolnoth] is the home of [Thomas Francknell, Goldsmith] for a long time it seems. There are wods of Merchants, Haberdashers, Goldsmiths forever, all here near this church. ===== [Thomas Francknell, Goldsmith] m:28-01-1582 at [St. Mary Woolnoth, London, England] to [Suzan Okeover of St. Mary Woolnoth][b:1561], the dg of [Rowland Okeover, Merchanttaillor]. Also spelling: [Roulande Okeover]. [Rowland Okeover] also has at least: ===== Suzan Okeover, [St. Mary Woolnoth] Born: 1561. [m:1582 Jan. 28. Thomas Francknell, Goldsmythe, and Suzan Okeover, daughter of Rowland Okeover, Merchanttaillor, by lycence.] ===== Elizabeth Okeover, [St. Mary Woolnoth] Born: Bet. 1562 - 1567?. [m:1583 May 27. Edwarde Phillipps, of the Parish of St. Michaell Uppon Cornehill, and Elizabeth Okeover, daughter of the above named Rowland Okeover, by lycence.] [Bapt:1584 Nov. 20. Elizabeth, daughter of Edward Phillips, Upholster, of the Parishe of St. Mighell upon Cornhill, London, whose wife lay in childbed of the same childe at her father Rowland Okeover his house by reason that the said Phillips house in Cornhill was a lyttle before that burnte by casualtie of Fyar.] ===== Sara Okeover, [St. Mary Woolnoth] Bapt: 25-08-1568. d: 25-08-1568. Died same day. ===== Churchwardens (???): 1571. Thomas Corbett - Thomas Watte, Haberdasher. 1572. Thomas Watte - Rowland Okeover, Merchant Taylor. 1573. Rowlande Okeover - William Charles, Weaver. 1597. George Samwell - Thomas Francknell - Richard Brooke. 1598. Richard Brooke - Richard Hadley - John Blakmore. [That is them !!!]. ===== It seems that Rowlande Okeover and Thomas Francknell (being much younger than Roland Okeover) were both churchwardens for the same church, hence the connection. You will notice Thomas Francknell is CW in 1597, and not after. He d:1597. You will see most went running for 2 years, but not him. [bp:1597 Thomas, son of Wydowe Francknell, the late wieff of Thomas Francknell, Goldsmythe, deceased.]. It seems Thomas Francknell died the same year his son Thomas Francknell was born, and before he was born. = There are several places down and around and just off Clerkenwall Rd named 'Dolphin'. I am not sure, but there seems to be one Kellan Collins in this area in the London 1651, and then it seems it is he who goes to Earls Colne just after that TL. This [Smith + Easton] families are certainly further related all round here to. There is also banks, books !!!, carpenters, merchants, haberdashers, goldsmiths, grocers, all round to keep in mind. This Easton family is probably the same one in NE. - S.K.M. - [!!!] ======================
MGC: [Patterns]: Places: Bramford, Woolverstone, London, Earls Colne, Kent (All around Maidstone area), Norfolk. Near St. Peter le Poer: Merchant's Tailors School, Broad Street, Goldsmiths, writers-publishers-poets, merchants, nearby churches, all just north of the London Bridge. And so on .... [Surname of Powell]: This surname can be noted to sound like anything close or similar, might be a better route to follow: POWLE, etc. [Also in St. Peter le Poer, and 'Green' too (!!!)]. There is one 'Susan' here: http://books.google.com/books?id=3iY9AAAAIAAJ&pg=PT158&dq=Thomas+Francknell+goldsmith&cd=6#v=onepage&q=Thomas%20Francknell%20goldsmith&f=false This should be herself: [.... and Susan Francknell, widow, of St. Mary Woolnoth, about 36, late wife of Thomas Francknell, of said Parish, Goldsmith, as at Westham aforesaid. 24-12-1597]. You know what -R ?, you really want to know what -R ?, I think you have climbed the wrong tree (!!!). There are two Daniel Collins. But it is the Daniel Collins of St. Peter le Poer that is ours here. Fawn, this is probably the same thing with your tree, for your Whitson chap, there are two persons of the same name with a father of the same name. I suspect the other set might be of better immediate value to your tree. I am adding [St. Mary Woolnoth] church to my list of London churches. I 'think' Thomas Francknell might be a churchwarden there or something like that. But this is where he is hiding .... .... .... - S.K.M. -[!!!] =====================
MGC: http://books.google.com/books?id=q2z9gAM9TfYC&pg=PR12&dq=abigail+collins+Woolverstone&cd=1#v=onepage&q=abigail%20collins%20Woolverstone&f=false The phrase ['During their 29 years of marriage ....'] is probably the writer's error. It is calculated on m:1586 to the death date of of Samuel Beadle d:1615 [1615-1586=29 yrs]. But Abigail d:1608, so it should read ['During their 22 years of marriage ....']: I think that's all it is. Causes a lot of confusion. More: There are [TWO SEPARATE SETS] of Samuel Bedle m. Abigail Collins. They should be seen as: === 1. Samuel Beadle, Deacon, Vicar of Woolvertone, m. Abigail Collins, of Bramford Suffolk. NOTE: They had SEVEN children and m. for 22 yrs. === 2. Samuel Bedle m. [Abigail widow of Samuel Bedle, wife of William Thompson]: Can we get their kids?. (1) ? Bedle. (2) Samuel Bedle. (3) Nathaniel Bedle. (4) Dorothy Bedle married John Bowles of Roxbury, Mass. (5) Abigail Bedle married William Powell of Dedham and Boston ... [Abigail Collins: She married 1st Samuel Bedle or Bedell, when she is described in the Visitation of London, 1633, as "daughter of Collins of Braintree, Essex']. === Going for a walk: If we are at St. Peter le Poer in Austin Friars Street just of Broad Street in London, go to the end of Broad Street, take a sharp left into Wormwood St., which becomes London Wall St. a short way down, take a sharp right about Fore St., and then a sharp left still in Fore St., is St. Giles without Cripplegate church. I understand that this church is the same as St. Giles Cripplegate church ?. Is that right ?. It 'seems' to be here, we will find the [Tobias Markham of St. Giles Cripplegate], a churchwarden there ?. === === === [Cont.]: I have just noticed something here. I think this will be the case. >From the book ref. given above: Samuel Beadle did not have 7 children, he had 9 children. The last 2 are missing (!!!). The writer has just counted the number of offspring in this specific record as 7 children. Not the case. Samuel Beadle leaves out his 2 last children born, why, because they are no longer in Old England. Too far away. They are in NE. His first dg named [Abigail Beadle] died young. So he has yet another dg of the same name. === Father: Samuel Beadle b:1555 d:1615. Mother: Abigail Collins d:19-03-1608. [dg Abigail Beadle d:(Abt.1588-1595) or so] [Additional children who went to NE]: Dorothy Beadle, [Woolverstone Suffolk] chr:15-06-1606, m. John Bowles. Abigail Beadle, [Woolverstone Suffolk] chr:14-03-1608, m. Michael Powell. === You will notice the 2nd Abigail Beadle is b:14-03-1608, and the mother dies 5 days later. I have changed my tree already here. It will be crucial to know how all of Daniel Collins' relatives fit in. It must be right. That much is fine. === [**********]: Commissary Court of London: Will Abstracts Volume 26 (1629-1634): TAYLOR, Susan - London, widow (f356): bur near chldr Ralph & Sibyl in St Peter the Poor; son Thos Francknell; son Jms T; son in law Jn Taylor; dtr Eliz Ford, Susan Chibball & Dorothy Shaker; grandson Sam Ponndage; exec dtr Kath Francknell; wtns Dan Collins, Jn Buxton & Sibyl Collin. === [Bear with me]: I have to ask myself the question: Obviously Susan Taylor has been m.'ed a few times (3? or so?), But ... ... ... we know we are basically in the right place, but things are not adding up just yet, but a whole set of seriously close marriages, etc. here, If ... OK? ... the [exec][=>Susan Taylor]'s dg is Kath Francknell, and one Daniel Collins is supposed to have a sister Katherine Collins who m. ? Francknell, she then being Katherine Francknell, TL:c1633, this is (1629-1634)(!!!), which one Daniel Collins does seem to have, the 'Dan Collins' probably her brother ?, Surely, but don't call me Shirley, would mean, in say 1633 or so, that simply, if Kath Francknell is the dg of Susan Taylor, and Kath Francknell is the ??? sister of Dan Collins, then Dan Collins mother must be .... Susan Taylor ?, and .... It would surely mean that the Daniel Collins who is b:1583 in Bramford Suffolk, who has a sister Katherine, it seems, and since this Daniel Collins' father d:1594, it would be quite difficult for him to have m. after he had died. If Susan Taylor (m. surname) had a dg Kath Francknell, say the sister of Daniel Collins 'Merchant', then this Daniel Collins here could not have say one Susan Taylor married to his father who d:1594 ?. I am finding it difficult to write and specify my frustration here. In the most simplest of terms I can make it, right or wrong here: This Dan Collins' mother must be 'Susan' ?. Feel free to comment.... This [Dan Collins] can't say a son of the Daniel Collins 'Merchant of London' ?, since he only got m:1633 to [Sybill Francklyn]. And since this is say TL:1633, any offspring of the 'Merchant' would not be signing as witness. Whatever the case: Susan Taylor's dg is Kath Francknell. I 'think' the will of Daniel Collins Merchant of London, did say his father m. 3 times ?. You must also notice in the Collins book, that only a John + Daniel Collins are mentioned alongside Abigail their mother. That was it. Some Dr. Collins. But [Susan Taylor (m. surname) has a dg Kath Francknell]. This 'Susan' must have husbands say: Taylor, Francknell, etc. One record says: 'at about five of the clock, was Saynt Gyles Church burned, belles and all, without Crepellgate'. - S.K.M. - [!!!] ======================
I am looking to connect with anyone that is from the line of David T(errell) and Ann Drake Collins from the area in and around Murray Co. GA. I need a death date and a burial location for David. I know he died somewhere between January (he filed a pension application) and June (his wife is a widow on the census) 1900. I know that Ann later move to Tx and died there. David was a civil war veteran and we'd like to make sure he has a grave marker denoting that service, but we need to find his burial place to do that. MGC: (Deacon) Daniel Markham of EC's (to NE) mother is Martha Collins. Her brother will be Deacon Edward Collins of MA. She will be sister of [Phebe, da. of John & Mandlene Collins, b:3 March (1604/5)], and also [Sibel Colenes] who m. Henrie Linche. Martha Collins' father will at least be this same John Collins. So far, I/we do not know anything about him, or what his profession or job was. I had him set to be b:Abt. 1670. Before I go on, I want to make some comment on my 'feelings' coming into London: Specifically St. Peter le Poer: This must be a direct hit for something to happen here, I have no doubt about that !!!. I just don't know enough about the place just yet. St. PleP is not in Broad Street, but off it, and it is Broad Street. We know the Collins family of Bramford Suffolk is also in London, but not just anywhere in London, they must be right here in the vicinity of Bread Street and more specifically connect to this St. PleP church here. At the north end of Broad Street just bit on is the [Saint Botolph Bishopsgate, London] church. -R : Make good note of St. PleP and nearby churches (!!!). We seriously need to know more about this church, and who the elders, vicars, etc., say from 1550-1650 or so. This church must be almost the family burial vault for the close Collins relatives (!!!). A wod of close relatives are buried inside this church (!!!). OK, have I made the point ?. So we know like the other close families all round, usually held land or lived between 2 or more places. It will be here near Broad Street in London, for this Collins/Collens family, will have a huge impact on your tree in some way, I feel a great way actually. So this is a hit .... Now your Ed. Collins and our Martha Collins, bro + sis: So, it would happen that due to living between more than one property site, that the offspring would be born between those places and nearby vicinity. That is true and simple. The father of your Edward Collins (and Martha) is basically an unknown person fitted into your tree, but probably right. Take a walk down to the north end of Broad Street and hop over the fence, and go to the church [Saint Botolph Bishopsgate]. In the records there. one entry stands out for amoungst the others, and I speculate [Specs] that this chap might be yours: [JOHN COLLINS Christening: 25 MAR 1569 Saint Botolph Bishopsgate, London, England. Father: COLLINS]: I am almost certain this is him. Also b. there in absolute correct TL is: [SIBILLA COLLENS Christening: 24 MAY 1604 Saint Botolph Bishopsgate, London, England. Father: JOHNE COLLENS]: This is probably the later Sibill Linch. This should be the sister of Martha Collins of EC. What can I say ?. There is also a Thomas Collins here too, and I did say there was also a floating Thomas Collins around EC. TL suggests he 'might' be a brother of your Johne Collens ?. Your Collins line I think will be in London for a while at least. [A separate note]: Later on also here is found: [PHILLADELPHIA COLLINS Christening: 05 AUG 1632 Saint Botolph Bishopsgate, London, England. Father: MORRIS COLLINS Mother: ELIZABETH]: The name of 'PHILLADELPHIA' probably relates to the Philadelphia Society of John Pordage (The Mad Hatter) the father of Samuel Pordage, who are also seriously connected to this St. PleP church, etc. The names of [Leede and possibly Leete] should be noted all round. [Remember -R, one will have to try and distinguish between different dna cousins here, and not all Collins will be related]. [Madglen Trehone]: We know that this surname mainly, is not known for sure, there must be some problem to read it clearly ?. Maybe of note: There one or another William Faithhorne who does some painting/portrait of someone or another somewhere around here. I suspect he might be a relative doing a family portrait ?. Also the obvious possibility the surname might Faithhorne for Madglen ?. Maybe not .... Just found it now: [Pordage: His portrait was engraved by William Faithorne ?]. Daniel Collins m. his cousin Sybill Franklyn, and also referred to a 'cousin Markham'. I think one is for sure, and just about to happen, is quite a number of ''missing'' offspring to be found. To corrct my last post: <<< [SIBILLA COLLENS Christening: 24 MAY 1604 Saint Botolph Bishopsgate, London, England. Father: JOHNE COLLENS]: My tree suggests that this should be the [John Collins + Madglen Trehone/Grace Wagger]: The problem I have with this though, I have just seen, is that she is b:24-05-1604 the same year as Phoebe Collins b:03-03-1604. She seems to be of the same family though. >>> : What was I thinking ?. This must be it. It must be the say 1604/5 date thingy that is causing the problem here. Silbilla Collens + Phoebe Collins are sisters (!!!). Johne Collens was a family planner. He was .... He tried to have all his children b. in March (!!!), his latter children ruining the record, were b. May, etc. Martha Collins if b. after Sibel Colenes, would be b. the middle of the year it would seem, or second half of year. 'Our' Martha Collins should be b.1590-1611, or even b.1605-1611. Now [Johne Collens] father of Edward + Martha Collins: You will notice in the Bramford Suffolk records, this John (Johne Collens) Collins baptismal record does not exist, becoz he he b. here in London as shown. For [Johne Collens] children, all b. in Bramford Suffolk or here in/near St. PleP, except for Martha Collins. I suspect Martha Collins might be the younger sister of Sibill, but, her birth place probably in London, will form the next triangle to follow further. It will be a lone record. = [St. Peter Le Poer, London] [St. Botolph Bishopsgate, London] [St. Faith Under Saint Paul, London] [St. Mary Whitechapel, Stepney, London] = ********** [TAYLOR, Susan - London, widow (f356): bur near chldr Ralph & Sibyl in St. Peter the Poor; son Thos Francknell; son Jms T; son in law Jn Taylor; dtr Eliz Ford, Susan Chibball & Dorothy Shaker; grandson Sam Ponndage; exec dtr Kath Francknell; wtns Dan Collins, Jn Buxton & Sibyl Collin.]: I 'think' they were all buried in St. PleP is that right ?. Every single person here is related and has to be sought and researched further, and added to these trees, they will make a splendid tree I am certain !. Susan Taylor: May she be Remembered Forever: The TL is hugely fine here all round. Samuel Pordage, [Student of Physick] b:1633 father was John Pordage, Rev. ['Doctor in Physick'], bapt:21-04-1607, and his father was Samuel Pordage, Grocer [London] who d:1626. This Samuel Pordage, Grocer of London, as I have it, his wife is supposed to be [Elizabeth Taylor]. Here just remains to be researched further: [Susan Taylor has: 'grandson Sam Ponndage']. Whatever the case, the pattern is clear enough, Susan Taylor and Elizabeth Taylor would be clearly connected and related here. There is no doubt in mind whatsoever, that this is the maternal line of Martha Collins who m. Jas Markham 'Attorney' of Earls Colne in Essex England. What can I say ?. The 'Of London' must be followed and better ascertained here, know and find out exactly where each person was, and follow it from there. [Doctor Doctor]: One must take exceptional note here please: The first pg of the Collins books for 'Pedigree of Dr. Collins': It was never shown who Dr. Collins was, simply because the person who placed this item did not clearly know which person was the Dr. Collins in question, but felt compelled to include this into the title of the record. Exact TL suggest that your Johne Collens could be this person ?. Johne Collens father is seemingly the John Collins 'Sailcloth Maker' of Bramford. So all we need now, is a Martha Collins b. to one John Collins, more than likely in London .... Lastly: John Collins who is the father of Edward, Sibill, and Martha, etc., shows no sign of a son John Collins. I can only suspect that there is missing son John Collins coming in here .... I suspect in this arena of upper Taylor lines, and thereabouts, more merchants and sailing cousin might be found .... Thank you .... - S.K.M. - [!!!] ========================
