    1. [Colley] New Colley surname DNA Project
    2. Tom Caulley
    3. Just letting everyone know that I am starting a new Surname Project titled CAWLEY-CAULLEY-COLLEY Y-DNA PROJECT.  The site is dedicated to using Y-DNA results to sort-out the different family groups that stem from Cawley, Cauley and Colley.  Individuals with different spellings may descend from a common ancestor in the not-so-distant past, and not even know they are related. It is our goal to help them connect. This is for anyone with one of the following surname spellings who had had a genealogy DNA test:  Caulley, Cauley, Cawley, Colley, Collie, Colie, Cowley, Caulley, Calley, Cally, Cauly, Colly, Cowly, Corley. Information about joining this group is found at http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/cawley/order or at https://my.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?group=Cawley-Colley Tom Caulley

    1. [Colley] My Third Book Published!
    2. Nancy Waters Lauer
    3. To Listmates, I am thrilled to announce my third family history book, Family Diversity, The Oler Family of Maryland with Allied Families Colley, Kennedy, Mason, and Smith 1500 to 2011, Volume III, went to the publisher and should be available about April 15, 2012. After many years of endless research, dead ends, and brick walls, I decided it was time to publish. There are still many unanswered questions that are challenges to future generations to weed out. For me this was a work of love, perseverance, patience, and commitment. Anyone interested in additional information, please contact me off list at my personal email: nanlauer@comcast.net Best wishes to all, Nancy

    1. [Colley] Obadiah and Sarah Colley from West Virginia
    2. Darlene De Witt
    3. Looking for Obadiah and Sarah Colley who married in West Virginia (at that time Virginia). These are my g-g-g-grandparents. Located in 1860 Census of Lewis County, Canton, Missouri. In 1870 Census Sarah Colley was listed with Van and Frances Swearingen (Frances was their daughter). I believe that Sarah and Obadiah both died and are buried in Canton, Missouri as they were not with Frances and Van Swearingen when they moved to California in 1875. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

    1. [Colley] Colleys of Sheffield/Liverpool/Manchester/Australia
    2. elizabeth kraus
    3. Hello everyone, It's many years since I have last been a member of the list. I am searching for descendants of Christopher Oates Colley and Mary Hatton. Christopher born in Sheffield late 1700s was the son of Benjamin Colley and Mary Oates. He married Mary Ann Hatton in 1830 Liverpool where they had 2 children Arthur Henry and Charles Courtenay between 1832 and 1834. Their other two children Emily Mary and Walter S. were born in Manchester between 1836 and 1839. Mary died in 1839 and the family emigrated to Australia between 1852 and 1855. Christopher died in Melbourne in 1856, Emily my great grandmother married and settled in Victoria, Australia. Charles returned to England, married a cousin Mary Colley, spent time in India and later returned to England. Of Arthur and Walter I have no knowledge. Anyone able to help me with the latter Colley sons or any further information regarding my family...it was most appreciated. Thank you. Elizabeth from Australia

    3. Sorry for the delay in returning to you. Also, my wife had two surgeries since January 25 and I have been quite bury with all the extra. She is doing great now with a new hip and shoulder. My great grandmother was a Colley (Mary Louisa Colley) and I researched her line quite extensively. What do you have? I would love to find additional connections to the family/descendants of William Colley. In doing research on my line of Colleys, I have collected, by county, the names of Colley and Colley-variant spelling families living in SC at the time of the 1790, 1800, and 1810 censuses. There was a Joseph "Carley" listed in the 1800 and 1810 censuses for York Co, SC. I am also interested in your Mulkey family. Are you a part of the Mulkey family that moved into Tennessee and Kentucky in the late 1790s/early 1800s? My Boone, Pennington, and Hestand families had a number of connections with the Mulkey family there. I would be interested in sharing information with you if your Mulkey family was a part of those that moved into north central TN and south central KY.
