THOMPSON DIED MONDAY Retired Minister SuccumbedAt 78; Services Thursday George Francis Thompson, 78-year-old retired minister of 324 East Eighth stree, diedyesterday afternoon at his home after a two day illness.A native of Hanover township,Michigan, he was born on May14, 1873 to Hosmer andFrancelia (Colegrove) Thompsonand on May 18, 1905 at Woodstockwas married to the former RoseAnna Gifford, who died in 1947.A graduate of Ryder DivinitySchool in Galesburg, Ill., hespent thirteen years in the ministry, serving pastorates inPlain City, Eaton, Camden, McConnelsville, Caledonia, Marion,Summit Station, Jersey and Mason,Ohio. His first charge was in Plain City where he was ordaineda minister of the Universalistchurch in 1903.Surviving are seven children,Mrs. Grace Chandler, Edward and James, all of Marysville; Robertand George of Richwood, Charlesof Columbus and Paul of Jackson-ville, Fla. Also surviving are17 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Strait of Jonesville, Mich. A son and daughter and brother preceded him in death.Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday afternoon at one o'clock in the Lee funeral home by the Rev. Bosworthof Columbus with services to follow at 2:30 o'clock in the Woodstock Universalist chuch. Burial will be at Woodstock. Friends may call at the funeral home.
