    3. Mrs. Laura G. Welch Dies; Was Former Teacher West Edmeston -- Mrs. Laura G. Welch, 74 widow of Clayton A. Welch, (a promi- nent cattle dealer until his death in 1953), died Monday in Faxton Hospital, Utica. She was born in the Town of Edmeston, daughter of Irving and Josephine Cole- grove Chase. She attended area district and the local high school and taught for a number of years in district schools. She was married to Mr. Welch in 1909. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, a teacher of the Daughters of the King, a member of the Philathea Class, the Community Club, Kismet Chapter of OES Bridgewater, and a past secretary and treasurer of the West Edmeston Cemetery Association. She leaves a son, David E. Welch, and a daughter, Mrs. Rith Welch Slentz, both of West Edmeston. The funeral will be at 2 Friday from her home with the Rev. Willard Ashley and the Rev. Lauren Hawver officiating. Burial will be in West Edmeston Cemetery. Calling hours at her home will be from 7 to 9 this evening and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow.
