Colegrove, the wife of the pastor of the Raymond Baptist church, had died during the night at the Homeo- pathic hospital in Rochester. Though she bad been sick, unable to walk, for several months, few realized that it was pernicious anemia with which she had been sufferng. The funeral was held in the Ray- mond Baptist church Tuesday after- noon at two o'clock. The church was filled with sympathizing friends. The Philathea class of which Mrs. Colegrove was the teacher, and the Baruca claim attended in a body, a large number from each class being present Many also from the Eastern Star of Webster, of which Mrs. Cole- grove was a member, were present and had a part in the service. A great profusion of flowers also bore testimony to the high esteem in which she was held. During the service Rev E B. Taft gave her obituary; Rev. F. W. Kneeland read from the Scripture; Mr. J. Lee Sutherland and Rev. H. R. Saunders brought tributes of appreciation; Rev. C H. Brown, of Webster, offered prayer; and Rev. J. C. Mrs. DeHond also sang a solo Following the service at the church, the body was laid to rest in the receiving vault in Greenvale cemetery. Mrs Colegrove in her girlhood was knon as Mary. Brownfield McCartney. She was born at Farmington, Pa., March 25; 1876 At an early age, however, she moved with her par- ents to Ohiopyle, in that state, where she made her home until her marriage to Rev Charles H. Colegrove October 7, 1897. In early life she became a Christian, and joined the Methodist church in her home town. Soon after her marriage, however, she united with a Baptist church, being baptized by her husband when he was pastor at Unadilla Forks, N. Y. In the twenty-seven years of their married life, her husband has peen pastor of six churches in this state, and in every one of them Mrs. Colegrove has been greatly . beloved. So tactfully, so faithfully, so efficiently and so cheerfully did she serve, she could not be forgotten. She taught in the Sunday schools, she worked in the various church societies, often filling offices in those societies, and at the same time she made her own home and the homes of others where she went radiant with her Chris- tian life. Her home was a home where the children liked to come. She knew how to make them feel her welcome, and she made their stay most pleasant. Young people, and older ones too, found the same cheer when they came into her presence. At the time ot her last illness she was the teacher of the Philathea class and president of the Woman's Missionary society in the Raymond church. Along with her activities in the home and in the church, she formed many friend- ships also in the W. C. T. U. and in the Eastern Star. Besides her husband, Mrs. Cole- grove, leaves two sons, Frederick and Henry; her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth McCartney, who has been helping care for her for several weeks; two aunts, Mrs. Clara Vaughan and Mrs. Frances Thorpe, of Ohiopyle, Pa., and one brother, Henry McCartney, of Union- town, Pa.
