Joseph Colgrove, a well knownfarmer of this town, living about 3 miles south east ofClyde, met with what is feared to be a fatal accident last week Friday afternoon. he drove to the Noble plant eastof this village with a load ofapples. While waiting for them to be weighted he steppedinside one of the buildings and fell headfirst to the floor below, a distance of 16feet. His skull was crushed in, and so badly that the doctors give no hopes of recovery. Mr colgrove was picked up unconscious. Dr.George S. Allern was called and the injured man was taken to the Lyons Hospital,where at this writing, he lies at the point of death. Packer; about 5:30 Sunday morning aftef a long illness. . She was born, .February 7, 1868 at Masonville, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Colegrove. On October 27, 1886 she was married to Herman B. Packer of Westville. He died July 10, 1933. Surviving are two sons, Glenn L. Packer .with whom she resided and Leo packer,_ of Oneonta: one grandson, Pvt. William Packer, of .the U. S. Binghamton NY Press 1951 Monday, October 1, 1951 John Colegrove Dies at 82 In Norwich Binghamton Press Bureau Norwich - John Wesley Colegrove, 82, died Saturday night at his home, 60 Borden Avenue. He was born, April 17. 1869, at Smyrna, the son of the Rev. Andrew M. and Eveline Boardman Colegrove. Mr. Colegrove was a member- of the Broad Street M e t h o d i st Church, of. the Men's Club'of that church, and was treasurer k of World Service for 38"years." -^ On June 28, 1891' he married Mary E. Wood in Sidney. Mr. Colegrove was employed by the Maydole Hammer Co. from 1912 to 1932, and Wellwflod Ribbon Co. from 1932 to. 1941, when he retired frojn active employment. NOV. 12, 1931 The death of John Colegrove, one of the oldest residents of this community, occurred at the home of Mrs. Frank Martin, Elm street on Friday evening. Mr. Colegrove suffered a stroke sonic time ago and had been in failing health for the past four months. The deceased was bom in Clinton November IS. 1846. a son of the late Charles H. and Asenath Allyn Colegrove and spent his entire life here. September 23. 1867 he married Eunice Tallman of Waterville and she died September 10. 1S23. He was one of the oldest members of the Stone Presbyterian Church and was always interested in the promotion of the church. He is survived by two daughters. Mrs. Henry Heine of Washington. D. C. and Mrs. Fred G. Sims of New Haven, Conn. Another daughter. Miss Initio Colgrovc died In 10H. He also leaves four grandchildren. Frederick G. Sims nnrl John Colegrove Sims of New Haven. Rogers who spoke words of hope and comfort tothe sorrowing family taking ashis text "My presence shall gowith thee and I will give theerest." No fitter tributecould be paid the departed thanthe words of Solomon found in Prov. 31:10-31 and read by Mr.Rogers. Mrs. Chase has lived her entire life in the town ofEdmeston and was well knownand held in the highest esteemby all. She was teh daughter of Dorrand Ruth Talbot Colgrove and wasborn March 2, 1856.
