Born in 1917 in Woodbury, she was the daughter of Carl and Linora (Colby) Thomas. She graduated from Hardwick Academy and Burlington Business College. In 1940, she married Francis Travers, who died in 1992. She was employed at the Franklin County Bank in Hyde park, the Hardwick Trust Co. and later Merchant's Bank. She also was bookkeeper in the family business, Hardwick Auto Supply and more recently worked at McFeeters General Store in East Hardwick until it closed in the early 1990s. She was a member of the United Church of Hardwick. Survivors include three daughters, Betty Andrews, Beverly Gilbert and Becky Travers; a sister; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
