He was born in Prairie du Sac township on Dec. 11, 1920, the son of the late Earl and Myrtle (Reynolds) Colby. Loren attended Yankee St. Country School, graduated from Prairie du Sac High School in 1938, and graduated from UW Ag. Short Course in 1939. He was united in marriage to Margaret Joyce Hill on April 6, 1940. Loren farmed in the Town of Prairie du Sac for 1 year, and then lived and farmed in the Town of Sumpter until his death.
