Anyway, my situation is that there were several Jonathan Colby’s in NH, at that time, so I’ve been looking into whether Jonathan Platts Colby, could be my line. As to Don’s question, I’m not positive the surname of Jonathan Colby’s wife was Whittemore. I do know her first name was Esther. She and daughter Roxanna Colby Beckley are buried at Elmwood Cemetery, Barre, Washington, VT. I found mention of John Colby, son of Jonathan and Esther Colby, online in the Gazetteer Of Washington County, Vt. 1783-1899, part 10. There are other Colby’s mentioned there as well. What I know about Jonathan Colby is that he was listed as a new member of the Methodist Society on 04 Oct 1799, at Barre, VT. Jonathan and Esther Colby were also on the 1830 Census. The Colby Friends & Others site, lists Jonathan Platts Colby separately from the Jonathan Colby married to Esther Whittemore, children Roxanna and John Colby. Would anyone happen to know the name of the wife of Jonathan Platts Colby?
