Lynn was born April 6, 1917 in Roseburg, OR to Ray W. and Minnie M. (Huntley) Colby, the eighth of nine children. He graduated high school in Eugene, OR in 1935. On June 27, 1937, he married Estelle Thompson of Eugene, OR. He worked in the logging industry most of their early years. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1943 where, besides logging, he worked for Tractor Sales & Serv. (later know as Haupert Tractor Sales). He was also a State Farm Insurance agent and pursued that profession after moving to Klamath Falls, OR about 1960. He and his son, David, also owned a auto repair shop in Klamath Falls for several years. Upon retirement in 1979 he and Estelle moved to Arizona. He leaves a son, David L. (Renee) Colby of Medford, OR; daughter, Dianne (Greg) Carlton of Peeples Valley, AZ; five grandchildren, Douglas (Sherri) Colby of Mt. Angel, OR, Donna Colby of Medford, OR, Daniel D. (Andrea) Colby of Nampa, ID, Michael (Leona) McNeill of Ramona, CA, and Matthew McNeill of Phoenix, AZ; eight great-grandchildren, Iain and CJ Colby of Mt. Angel, OR, Tiffany Hankins, Mindy and Adam Williams of Medford, OR, Gavin and Katrina Colby of Nampa, ID, and Lauren McNeill of South Dakota. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, four sisters, four brothers and his wife who died in August, 1997. Per his instructions, no services were held. Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services in Phoenix arranged his cremation.
