Actually, there were 13 children. The first child - James Singer Colby was born 3 Oct 1799 and died 29 Jan 1821. The second child was named James Singer Colby again. He was born 14 Mar 1822 and lived to 21 Jul 1902. Babies! From 1820 to 1844!! Whew!! I've never been able to determine if this was war-related or coincidence. He was born March 16, 1835 in Granby Twp., Oswego Co., NY and was one of 12 children of Daniel D. and Elizabeth (Singer) Colby. His grandfather, William Colby, was a Rev. War Veteran.
