There is Alma J. Colby, daughter of George Joseph Lunt Colby & Arabella Thompson who was born 19 Apr 1848, Newbury, Massachusetts. But, she is certainly not a close relative, so what she would have been doing living with them is beyond me!!! The Alma J. on the 1850 shows as born in Maine. Who is the Charles Knight? Also, on the 1870 there is a Flavilla E. Colby age 5 - who then does she belong too? It appears as if she could be Alma J.'s daughter. Did they just take in stray kids???? Maybe, call them "Colby" if they did not come with a name???
