He was born the son of Grover C. and Claribel (Glass) Colby on June 6, 1916. On October 24, 1942 he married Marilyn (Burzan) and she preceded him in death in 1981. Jr enjoyed hunting deer, fox and especially coyote. His greatest passion was his CB radio and talking to his many friends all around the world, his handle was 999 Grover. He is survived by his two children, Alvin (Sharon) Colby of Auburn, IN and Mary (Dave) Schroten boer of Chelsea; grandchildren, Jeremy (Veronica) Bradbury, April Colby, Kyle Schrotenboer, Shawn Schrotenboer; and great-grandchildren, Shyla Bradbury and Makayla Kline. Also surviving are his sisters, Lucille Nelson of Asby, MN, Orvilla (Robert) Somers of Kalamazoo, Esther (Frank) Bongiovanni of Northville, and Bessie Bongiovanni of Brighton. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 14 at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home with Pastor Barb Wright officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Diabetes Association.
