Colby Worked for Cormier Hosiery Mills in Franklin TILTON - Mary Ellen (Baker) Colby, 84, passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, after a lengthy illness with her loving family with her at home. She was born at home in Northfield on June 5, 1924. She was the daughter of Margaret Murphy and Thomas Baker. Mary was in the first graduating class of what is now Winnisquam Regional High School. Hers was the Class of 1942. Mary worked for many years at Cormier Hosiery Mills in Franklin. Mary was happily married for 37 years to Sherwood Colby, who died in 1986. Of much importance in Mary's life were her family and the many pets she had over the years. She especially enjoyed dining out with her daughter. Survivors include her daughter, Judith Colby, and her longtime companion, Russell Mammino, of Hooksett; three sons, Thomas Colby of Hill, Steven Colby of Tilton and John Colby of Northfield; three loving grandchildren, Melody Kohrs of Independence, Mo., Thomas Colby Jr. of Tilton and Chris Colby of Tilton; three great-grandchildren, Jason, Amanda and Samantha; and nieces, nephews and numerous cousins. Mary was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption. There will be no calling hours. A private burial will be held in the spring.
