Colby 27 Dec 1961 - 3 Feb 2009 Had a passion for racing Scott W. Colby, 47, passed peacefully at the CRVNA Hospice House on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, with his wife, Sandra, and sister Diane by his side. After a courageous battle with illness, he has gone to race in a better place with his late brother David and nephew Jason. Scott was born in Concord on 27 Dec 1961. At a young age, Scott developed a passion for racing that he shared and passed on for future generations. To Scott, racing was not only a family pastime, but a way of life. Scott will be remembered for his kind heart, compassion, strength and his unfailing individuality. To his children and grandchildren, whom he referred to as "Papa's angels," he will always be remembered as the hero. Alexis, aka "Trouble," Abigail, aka "Tank," Lillian, aka "Libby" and Daniel will carry Papa's love in their hearts forever. Scott is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughter Jennifer and husband, Chris; son Peter and wife, Deborah; mother, Barbara, and Robert Johnson; father, Lee, and Alice Colby; loving sisters and brothers, Donna, Charlie, Deborah and her husband, Mitch, Tom and his wife, Donna, and Diane and her husband, Ron; and many other loving family and friends. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home in Concord. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the CRVNA Hospice.
