Born in New York City in 1913, she spent most of her life in the Washington, DC area. She attended the St. Agnes School for Girls in DC and Sullins College in Bristol, Va. In 1937 she married Merrill Eldon Colby at the old Christ Episcopal Church in Alexandria. Survivors include her three daughters, Marilyn Fairfax Colby, Vergie Lee Colby, and Jeanette Winter Ott; her son, Merrill Eldon Colby; five brothers, Winter Bradley, Robert Elwood, George Anthony, John Fairson and Stephen Colby Simpson; 8 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Saturday (December 1, 2007) at Christ Church, 118 N. Washington Street, Alexandria at 12:00PM with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax.
