    1. Re: [COLBY] Smith Colby
    2. The Hulda living with Smith COLBY and his wife Samantha in the 1870 census for Bremer County, Iowa, was the mother of Samantha (Robinson) Colby. The census should have said Hulda ROBINSON born in NH in about 1802. I don't know what Hulda's maiden name was. She was first married to a man with a surname of SCOTT in New Hampshire where he son Charles H. Scott was born in 1831. In 1838 in Granger, Ohio she married a Samuel ROBINSON of Vermont (b: 1785) I truly and surely wish that Smith was the child of Joseph and Hulda. For right now his parents names are unknown to me. Smith is the child of Joseph Colby born 30 September 1807 in Corinth, Orange, Vermont and Hulda Thurston born 1811 in New Hampshire. He is the oldest of 8 kids. In 1870 Hulda was living with him in Iowa.
