    3. Hope the confusion is cleard up. This site is totally free and requires no registration to search. For example, I just put in surname Colby with no location or other info and 2,409 entries came up. It's a great site. Bob F.

    3. You don't even have to register for findagrave unless you want to post something, then you have to register. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Ccorwin@aol.com> To: <colby@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 25, 2009 6:30 PM Subject: Re: [COLBY] Findagrave.com :) I've been there and done that with being too tired when I try to do something! lol Maybe try fresh tomorrow or Friday... I assure you it is a free website. You do have to register - I think it's just your name and email address. then you can create your "favorite" cemeteries, etc. Also if you live near a cemetery and would be willing to take pictures for people, you can register that cemetery and when someone requests a picture from that cemetery, they will send an email to you asking if you can take the picture. Likewise, if you know "auntie Em" is buried in Oaklawn Cemetery, but there is no picture, you can send a request for someone to take a pic for you. Hope this helps...Get some rest and have a happy thanksgiving! 3. Sometimes I think that the Pony Express would be faster and more reliable that our current U.S. Postal system. Historic Envelope Valued at $300,000 Up for Auction Tuesday , November 24, 2009 AP HONOLULU — A New York gallery will auction off what is believed to be one of three known surviving historic envelopes postmarked on the first day of the Pony Express. The envelope postmarked April 3, 1860, is valued at $300,000. It is among 63 items owned by 88-year-old Thurston Twigg-Smith that will be sold Dec. 5 by Robert A. Siegel Auction Galleries in New York. Twigg-Smith is the former publisher of The Honolulu Advertiser in Hawaii. It estimates the collection's value is $2.5 million or more. Twigg-Smith also will auction one of two surviving Pony Express letters that originated in Hawaii. It is valued at $500,000. The Pony Express lasted 19 months, shuttling mail 1,900 miles from St. Joseph, Mo., to San Francisco. _____________ I found this movie review when I Googled Pony Express and "Colby": Dead Man's Gulch Starring: Frank Brownlee, Al Taylor, Rex Lease This lightning-paced Republic western stars Don "Red" Barry as lawman Tennessee Colby. When sinister forces try to prevent a congressional investigation of shady freight-line activities, Colby swings into action. The problem: Among the bad guys is Colby's best friend, Tommy Logan (Bud McTaggart). The sheriff wavers in his loyalties until Logan adds cold-blooded murder to his list of crimes. This is one film that cries out for comedy relief, which is provided in excess by Emmet "Pappy" Lynn. Dead Man's Gulch manages to pack of passle of plot in its brief 58 minutes. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide. DEAD MAN'S GULCH - DON "RED" BARRY - 1943 When the Pony Express disbands, riders Tennessee Colby and Johnny head for Adobe Wells. Tennessee becomes the Deputy Marshal while Johnny joins an outlaw gang. It's not long before Tennessee catches Johny attempting murder. As Johhnny is his best friend, he gives him another chance. But to no avail as Johnny murders a man and this time Tennessee must do his duty. Don "Red" Barry, Lynn Merrick, Clancy Cooper, Emmett Lynn BLACK AND WHITE - 55 MINUTES ---------------------- I love the part about a congressional investigation.  LOL! HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I am related to them via their son Robert Myron Colby, whose son is Joseph Walter Lamont Colby Sr, my dad. I located a baby Colby, born\died Jun 10, 1926, Oak Grove Cemetery Portsmouth, Virginia. Does anyone have any information about this child? I live in Portsmouth and was going to investigate.
