She was an active volunteer for many organizations including Phelps Memorial Hospital, Caramoor Museum Historic Hudson Valley and the Girl Scouts. Mrs. Colby was a parishioner of the Briarcliff Congregational Church, active in many committees, was president of the Women's Society and a deacon. She was born in Hull, Mass., on Jan. 26, 1907, the daughter of Fred Ezra and Margaret (MacEachern) Thoday. Mrs. Colby attended schools in Boston, Mass. In 1928, she married Carroll Burleigh Colby of Claremont. He died on Oct. 31, 1977. Survivors include one son, Fred M. Colby of Briarcliff Manor; one daughter, Susan C. The funeral service will be held today (Wednesday, Dec. 19) at 10 a.m. in The Farwell Funeral Home, 18 Lock St., Nashua, followed by burial at Greenvale Cemetery in Greenfield. She was born Sept. 21, 1902, near Callaway to John H. and Alice Colby Solt. She grew up and attended school in the Callaway area. On June 30, 1928, she married Charles B. Munnell at North Platte. In March 1939, the couple moved to a ranch southeast of Brewster, where they made their home. In 1964, she moved to Sargent. She spent many years taking care of elderly people in their homes. In May 1998, she entered the Goli Medical Center. Survivors include 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in July 1963; an infant daughter; two sons, Carl and Franklin; her parents; two sisters; and three brothers. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Pleasant Valley Gospel Church near Brewster with the Rev. Don Schauda officiating. Burial will be in the Brewster Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
