I am searching for a marriage record, and or a divorce record for James ARTHUR Bennett, my grandfather, who was married to an unknown lady before he married my widowed grandmother Alice Hudgins in October of 1910 at Telluride, Colorado. On the application for their marriage license he stated he had previously been married and had obtained a divorce in Durango a year ago July 1909, for grounds of desertion. he affirmed this was true and signed the application Arthur Bennett. I obtained permission from the judge at the La Plata combined court, and paid a fee of $20 to have the divorce records searched, the clerk reported that no Divorce was granted to a Bennett.between the years of 1895 to 1910. Are there any volunteers that could help me find any records relating to Arthur Bennett. Do yo think it is possible the reseacher overlooked the record on microfilm? The 1900 census does list a James Bennett , with wife Mary and a young son 2 yrs. old. Born in 1863 and 37 years old. Born in Missouri as my grandfather was. However he is 20 years older than our Arthur Bennett would have been., who was still living with his parents in Montrose and was enumerated as 18 years old . He was married 20 years to Alice. and fathered 7 children. Any helpful suggestion would be very appreciated. Thank you . RC Re,e[
