I am reposting my interests: Researching grgrandparents James O. Monteith/Christina (Ross) Monteith. Immigrated from Scotland 1882 with 4 kids: Annie, Robert, John C. (mine), and Christina. Settled on farm near Falfa on Florida Mesa. Also James O's brother, John R. Monteith/Catherine (Ross) Monteith and Catherine's sister Annie (Ross) and husband Joh D. Carnon eventually settled there. Then, by 1900 census. other siblings of James O. were there - Peter, Andrew, and Mary Monteith. Unable to get death verif for these 3, altho think they died Durango. Christina d. 1919 and James O. 1921, both Durango. Farm was occupied until at least 1924, when their daughter Annie marr. and moved to Calif. Son Robert probably remained on the farm - died 1945. Any info will be appreciated. Laura

Hello list, Just wanted to let you know that there is a genealogy book on EBAY - it's the "PIONEERS OF THE SAN JUAN COUNTRY" . It is huge - over 800 pages and published by the Sarah Platt Decker Chapter of the DAR. Tons of info on La Plata County's early years and the early pioneers of the area. I bought it thinking it might have some of my ancestors in it, but my ancestors lived too far east than what this book covered (they lived in Apishapa, Trinidad, etc.) Anyway, just wanted to let you know about this book as there is soooo much info in it, including marriages, etc. If you had ancestors from this area, be sure and check out this book! Good evening, This is a short message to let you all know that starting at 8 a.m. PST Friday, February 23, RootsWeb will begin a planned temporary downtime for maintenance of its servers and hosting process. It will limit this downtime as much as possible. This is to let you all know that you should not worry if the lists are running slow and or you do not receive any messages. Thank you, Addie Morrissey List owner
I Am looking for information on the Hood family, Samuel and Mary Jane that had a ranch and saw mill near Durango, La Plata Co., Colorado in the late 1800s and early 1900s. I have information on Mary Jane's ancestors. Thank you Robin.
Good evening, We have 34 new photos added to the Colorado USGenWeb photos project. Maryellen, we would appreciate a link to the Colorado USGenWeb Photo Project from Conejos County. I know the submitters would appreciate it as would we. A special thank you goes to Cecelia Weber, Rebecca Herzig, Pat Sanchez Rau, Shirley Dubuque, Louise Adams & Carol Clark for sharing these photos with us. We only have "" 3 "" more counties to go and the whole state will have photos in each county. This is wonderful!!!! Lets all dig through our photos and get the last three counties listed with photos. How about it gang? I would like to personally thank all who have visited the Colorado photos project and have sent their thanks for making it all come together. We have 3 counties that do not have photos. If any of you have Colorado Photos of your ancestors, first businesses, schools, churches, homesteads, old towns, ghost towns etc., you would like to share, we would love to add them to the site. Several family connections have all ready been made through this wonderful project. Many counties have more than one page of photos. Don't forget to use the links at the bottom of the county pages to view all of the photos. Delta, Huerfano & Las Animas have new pages listed. The new photos can be viewed by visiting the Colorado USGenWeb Photos Project at http://www.rootsweb.com/~cophotos/index.htm Look for the counties with the gold star for new additions. Again, we have counties that have no photos. If you have any of your ancestors from those counties, please help us reach our goal by adding every county on the map with photos. We are all most there! The new photos are listed in the following county: Boulder, Conejos, Delta, Huerfano, La Plata & Teller. 1. Boulder (9) - Carol Clark - Mr. & Mrs. Hal Coulson, Coulson Home, Sadie Shepherd Coulson, Sadie, Hal & Harry Coulson, Sadie Shepherd Coulson, Coulson Family, Hal & Sadie Shepherd Coulson & Hal & Sadie Shepherd Coulson Christmas Card 1952 2. Hello, I am researching the following names in La Plata Co.: Tovrea, Spaeth and Buchannan. They all lived in the Oxford, Ignacio and possibly Durango areas in the 1920's. If anyone is descended from any of these families or has information on them, please contact me. I am trying to solve an 80 year old mystery involving the disappearance of an ancestor. Gladys
I am testing the settings. Please delete. Thank you, Addie
Good evening to you all, Rootsweb had major problems with a server and had a serious crash. Many mailing lists were affected. A lot of RootsWeb mail lists were effected from this crash. Some mailing lists may have unsubscribed current subscribers and also may have resubscribed people who unsubscribed themselves in the last week or two. If you get this notice check the mailing list name at the top and make sure you are subscribed to that one. If you don't hear from some of your mailing lists then perhaps you got lost in the transferr of data and should resubscribe. If you are getting messages from the lists you are on no harm will be done by your resubscription. If you unsubcribed in the last week and get this message please unsubscribe again. I understand this has been fixed. But just in case it has not, it may take awhile to get things back the way they were so please bear with the staff at RootsWeb. Remember you can always resubscribe your self to the lists you were on, with no harm done at all. Thank you, Addie Listowner
