A project for all of you.... OLD TIMERS UNITE! CONTRIBUTE YOUR STORIES TO BOOK Everyday I hear or read that another old timer passed away, taking all our precious history to the grave. Every single family in the following list, and other not listed, who have moved here, have an interesting, exiting or even sorrowful experience they can share with all of us, who loved them, lived around them, went to school and church with them. Everyone contributed something to this wonderful city. Are we going to let it all die? Please don't. Let's all get together, and reach into our memories for anything we can preserve for future generations. What an interesting book it would make. A part of each and every one of us, who lived thru the good times and bad times of this city. Those of you who moved away, will never forget our town, so please put down all you remember, and send it to me. Everyone of you, in your own words, will become a part of history of the families who made Leadville once the very great city. You can't forget, you made it so. After the book is completed, I count all the pages it contains. They usually cost ten cents a page to print, $1.00 for the cover, and $2.00 to put it together. This will be your cost, when you order the book. I will order a book made to only those people who have contributed and made this publication possible. No extra books will be made. So, if you don't send in your "history," you will never be able to buy this book, at any price, and believe me this will be your most treasured book, because you wrote it, I'll just put it together. All my six previous books were made this way. Remember my Genealogy book, a book of 285 family tress for people who came her to Leadville from year 1865 to the present? Every state in the union participated, and many from Yugoslavia. Many people thought this book would never amount to much, since it took four years of research. So they did not contribute. Not only did they not get included in this, they never got the book. After they read it, they begged and pleaded for a book; of course, there were no extra copies. Several families bought copies for the entire family. One family bought 22 copies and another 18. I am proud, I was able to do it. When you contribute, I want your grandparents name. Where they were born, when they landed in Ellis Island, when they were naturalized, when they came to Leadville, when married, to whom, what they did, all the names of their children, grandchildren, and their families, what they are doing and when they died. Any other interesting item you want to add to your history. Only you can do this; this is a legacy you will be leaving for your children, and they will love you for it.... Mail all your stuff to Marie Schlamann, 22 West 7th St., Leadville, Colorado 80461 or bring it to my home. Signed Marie Schlamann Leadville, Colorado Printed Herald Democrat 26 July 2001
