    1. [COLAKE] WHYTE FAMILY IN LEADVILLE...1875-----
    2. Looking for any information about Duncan McKeller Whyte, Sr. b. 1827-28 in Greenock, Renfewshire, Scotland. Married Janet Allan. Had ten children. ( 9 in Scotland & 1 in America). Brought family to America around 1867, first to St. Louis, MO and then settling in the Leadville, Denver areas around 1875. Children's names are: Catherine Whyte Duncan McKeller Whyte, Jr. Thomas Whyte Margaret Isabella Whyte John McDonald Whyte William Wallace Whyte George Washington Whyte Joseph Garibaldi Whyte Samuel Watson Whyte Duncan McKeller Whyte, Sr. was the Greenback nominee for lieutenant governor of Colorado in 1884 and one of the organizers of the Knights of Labor movement. He was a baker in Scotland and may have gone into the printing business in C0. There are some land records establishing his claim in Colorado called "PAY DIRT". Many of the children were politically active, and I beleive some were actually elected to legislative postitions. Some records have the name spelled erroneously as "White". Anybody with information on any "Whyte's", in Colorado, please respond. Cat Whyte
