I just talked with Marie and she wants to set the deadline of October 1, 2001. She is 82 years old and is so excited about doing this book. She hopes to get great response from everyone. She talked about the old-timers, which I did not know, and feels that some of that history should be saved as it was so much apart of Leadville. She is an invalid but crochets and quilts and has a small business selling her quilts and is busy making quilts for the hunters to line their sleeping bags..;-) She said that she needs to keep her mind active and that this will be the last book that she tackles. Hope you will all support this book. Gail
I'll get the Wells family Lake County history together and send it to her. The Wells boys got there in June of 1860 and George had interests in businesses and mines until his death in 1906. Actually I just found out that the Hall line of the family still has interests in mines in California Gulch that were handed down.
