Smith, 72, died April 27 in Colorado Springs. He was born Dec 25, 1928 in Agular, Colo, to Charles Benedict and Maudie Lois (Morrow) Smith. He served in the Army, Company D 17th Infantry, from Jan. 27, 1946 to June 29, 1947. He married Mabel Francisco on May 6, 1948. He worked at the Climax Molybdenum Mine for 33 years as a mill worker and truck driver. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sisters Jimmie and Eunice. He is survived by his sons Bill (Jane) Smith; John (Mary) Smith; and Jim (Carol) Smith; mother-in-law Jessie Frnacisco; brother C.B. Smith; sisters Julie DeBella and Evelyn Bisaleo; stepdaughters Jacquie (Dexter) Newsom-Ditmars; Terri (Rick) Peterson; and Pattie Ray; stepsons Michael (Patsy Ray; and Jeff Ray; six grandchildren and 12 stepgrandchildred; and two great grandchildred and 12 step great grandchildren. He is also survived by Eileen Ray, significant other.
