I am in the Knockainey area at the moment researching so the info in your post was fascinating to me. My Johanna Dooley - details below was married in Bruff but her 3 firstborn children were all baptised in Knockainey. A local parish priest I visited said that women often returned to their parents home for the birth of their first child in particular & sometimes for the birth of other children. I am searching for info on my ancestors - Terence O'Brien born abt 1815 married to Johanna Dooley - Bruff 1836. TOB son of Daniel OB & Catherine Carroll. Johanna daughter of James Dooley & Ellen Conner. Traced baptism of TOB & JOB 3 chld 1836,37,39 to St Johns RC Church, Knockainey - sponsor to one child's baptism is James Dineen. Also found baptism record in same church records for older brother of Terence -Murtagh.bapt 1811 My tree is on ancestry. Do you have any info to share that may help me or any people you can suggest who may have info? Also a local historian & archeologist - Michael Quinlan lmquinlan@eircom.net has done a lot of work in this area & is transcribing the tombstones in St Johns Graveyard in Knockainey. Cheers.
