Thank you for this index, obviously made by reading headstones. I was hoping for an index of the person who was in charge of the cemetery, a book of the layout of plots and to whom assigned, as I doubt a stone was ever placed on my gggrandfather's (John Guinane, died in Georgetown, Nov 16, 1895) gravesite...if I could locate the plot, I would place a stone now. As a point of interest, the nephew of my gggrandfather, Mart Duggan, once the (in-)famous marshal of Leadville, is having a stone placed this month at the family plot at Riverside Cemetery, Denver....he was shot & killed April 9, 1888 in Leadville - so it's never too late to place a stone! Thanks to the folks who organized a benefit to raise funds for this stone....as there were about a dozen family members buried there, family has also contributed to have others' names placed on back of the stone. --- On Mon, 9/20/10, Gail Kilgore <gail.kilgore@gmail.com> wrote: From: Gail Kilgore <gail.kilgore@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [COLAKE] Cemetery between Georgetown & Idaho Springs To: colake@rootsweb.com Date: Monday, September 20, 2010, 6:36 PM Here is a transcription down on the cemetery near Georgetown but your name is not listed. http://files.usgwarchives.net/co/clearcreek/cemeteries/georgetwn.txt Gail On Mon, Sep 20, 2010 at 6:14 PM, Nancy Peregrine <nancyperegrine@yahoo.com>wrote: > Does anyone know of an index of burials with plot locations for the > cemetery located outside of Georgetown on the road to Idaho Springs? It is usually the city or the county that has those records or the mortuary so where those books were kept or passed down is the question. More than likely they have disappeared, It was probably a city cemetery and I am sure the city has been asked over and over for records for that cemetery. Another project to investigate. Who did you contact in Georgetown? Gail On Tue, Sep 21, 2010 at 7:46 AM, Nancy Peregrine <nancyperegrine@yahoo.com>wrote: > Thank you for this index, obviously made by reading headstones.
