See below to view some names and information I transcribed from these payroll sheets and find out where I found these sheets. Payroll of the Climax Molybdenum Company - August 1947 In the Vancouver, BC, Canada art museum, Vancouver Artgallery, 750 Hornby Street, Vancouver, BC., in the exhibit "from the collection: Unreal" which is showing from January 22 to September 5, 2011, there is a work by artist Graham Gillmore (b. 1963, Vancouver.) The title of this artwork is 'Help' and is dated 1998. The art is felt pen written and drawn over large sheets of paper (approximately 11" x 14") taped together. I am supposing that the artist found the papers as discards. Those pieces of paper are each titled "Payroll of the Climax Molybdenum Company." The dates I could read were August 21, 1947 and August 31, 1947, typed onto the pages. The names were typed down the left sides of the pages. The artwork is large, and I could not see all of the payroll sheets in detail. But I took some of my time to transcribe some of the names and occupations that I could read. There were 24 payroll sheets, four across and six down. Numbering across from left to right, I transcribed the names from part of sheet 9, all of sheet 13, and part of sheet 17. These were all on the left side of the artwork. I will list the names and the occupations listed for those names. There were further columns, with information concerning payroll, but I did not try to transcribe those numbers. M. Opr. I am sorry that I could not transcribe all of the names. There may also be names on the back side of the papers. It seems that the artwork is part of the permanent collection of the Vancouver Artgallery. But I am hoping that this information will be of interest to someone researching family history. I am truly sorry that Ancestry.com does not allow my message to be formatted correctly so that it is easy for you to read. I typed it in a readable format, but it will not seem to print that way for you! Sorry! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
