I am looking for information about William P. Records (b. 21 Mar 1835-d. 1907). According to information in his Civil War Pension file he and his family lived in Leadville, Lake Co., Colorado, from about 1876 until 1907. William's wife's name was Zerilda (Clapp) Records, and the four children were named F. E. Records (b. 7 June 1858), C. W. Records (b. 5 Feb 1865), Minter Records (b. 11 Sep 1873), and Mattie Records (b. 13 Apr 1880). It is my understanding that William is buried in the GAR section of the Evergreen Cemetery, in Block 5, Lot 129. I would like to know if the wife and any or all of the children are buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Any other information about the Records' life there in Leadville would be much appreciated. (William was an older brother of my G-grandfather James M. Records, and the two brothers served in the Colorado Cavalry during the Civil War.) Thank you, Frank Weihs, in Tacoma, WA

Records who lived in Leadville, CO, from about 1871 to the time of his death in 1907. He was married to Zerilda Clapp in 1857, in Edgar Co., Illinois, and they had four children: F. E. Records, C. W. Records, Minter Records, and Mattie Records. The latter two children were probably born in Leadville. Any help would be much appreciated.
There is only one: July 10, 1910 Graiff, Candida, age 28 and no location of burial. And, it states listing only, location unknown, but he is buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery. At this time I do not know who has the funeral records for 1910. I don't know what all is listed in the funeral church records, if that lists a burial location other than the cemetery. Unless someone knows something more, I am sorry but this is not much help. How long do you plan to be in Leadville and when will you be there? Gail

Gail, I wonder if you have time to check a couple of people out? Is there a listing in the Evergreen Cemetery for a Maude SCOTT CRAWFORD, b. 20 July 1902, d. abt. 1917/18? She was born a SCOTT and was adopted, I believe, by CRAWFORD. She died in the influenza epidemic. I'm not sure what year that was. Also do you have a listing for a John W. PHILLIPS, b. Feb. 1840. He was still alive in 1910, but that's all I have so far. He had lived in Eagle Co. at the turn of the century, but a lot of his adult kids lived in Leadville. His wife was Mary E. PHILLIPS, b. 1861. Do you mean the Tabor Grand in Denver or the original Tabor Opera House in Leadville? According to Caroline Bancroft's book entitled "Silver Queen," the Tabor Opera House in Leadville opened in November, 1879. Lizzie McCourt Doe arrived in Leadville one month later, she told her biographer. She recalled that Jack Langrishe's stock company from New York had been brought in for performances for the opening. The play they were presenting was "Two Orphans." The Tabor Grand opened with Emma Abbott singing Lucia. Performers in Leadville and Denver included Lily Langtry, Lillian Russell, Sara Bernhardt, Mme. Modjeska, John Drew, Augustin Daly, William Gillette, Edwin Booth and Otis Skinner. Let me ask one? Tabor owned the Leadville Herald. It must have been a competitor to the Leadville Chronicle. Do copies of the Herald still exist? Frank Sellers
