I don't show him in the census for Eagle Co. prior to that. I know his children lived in Leadville, Lake Co. It's possible he was living there prior to Eagle Co. Do you have any more info, such as age in 1890? I haven't run accross a Simon, but there are quite a few children of my John that aren't accounted for, if I'm to believe the story of his having 20+ children. I would love any info you might have. Thanks. MJ

    3. Posted on: Lake Co. Co Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Co/Lake/10326 Surname: MIKLICH ------------------------- Yvonne, I have a copy of Page 25 from the St. Joseph's Church History in Leadville, which you mentioned. On this page is a photo of the Slovenian National Band. No date is mentioned anywhere, however, on page 24 they mention only that the band played at a special ceremony blessing the WSA Banner on August 13, 1911. The band members are identified in the photo. There is a Tony MIKLICH in the photo-looks like he is a tall man, and looks like he was a trumpet/horn player. Other than identifying him in the photo, there is no further mention of him on that page. I wrote to the Slovenian Genealogy Society in Pennsylvania directly, and requested a copy of this page from them. earlier this year. I received the copy about 3-4 weeks after my request. My husband's possible grandfather, Tony PERHAJ, is standing next to your Tony MIKLICH. Once I saw this wonderful surprise of a photo, I contacted the Society to find out where I could get a copy of the original photo. It sounded like they do not have the original photos or histories, just copies. Maybe the Church or State Archives has it? If you go that far, would you post a message here if you find the original. Good Luck! Denise Perhay

    3. Frank Zaitz operated a general store in Leadville and my grandfather, Henry W. Hart, was his partner. They ran the business under the name of "Hart-Zaitz Mercantile" for many years from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. I am very interested in acquiring memorabilia with the name "Hart" from that era. 2. Hi Gail. You sure are a workhorse. I'm not at home at the present time. But I will be next week. Where do you want me to send such pictures to you? I have an awful lot of family pictures, and a great deal of Leadville connections there as my grandparents met in Leadville as children and all of them are buried there, as are four of my greats and one of my gg, most of whom I have pictures of and some other historical facts. So let me know. Ed

    1. Re: [COLAKE] Kelly's
    2. Hi Gail Yes, Vince and Leo were my Dad's younger brothers. They lived together after Leo retired and returned to Leadville from his job at Keesler (sp?) Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. He was a widower, his wife Bernice having died in the 50's. Vince and Leo lived in the house on the Southwest corner of 10th and Poplar, where Catherine had lived before she married Duke Rood. My Dad also had another brother, Harold who had died in the 50's as well, and a sister Annetta who was married to Jim O'Neal. You probably knew some of their children, Ann, Kay, Jimmy, Ellen and Vincy. My Uncle Jim is currently in Denver and has undergone heart surgery, and doing quite well for an 83 year old guy. He is next scheduled for knee surgery after the recovery period for the heart surgery has passed. Each year he is quite involved with the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Leadville, as well as the practice parade held on September 17th. Well, one question lead to an awful lot, didn't it. Hope you are feeling well. Ed

    3. I don't know why I do this as it only makes more work for me.... but something has come up off the mail list that made me wonder if I should add this info to the web page. I have been working with this lady on her line helping her find her family in the cemetery. She is sending me pictures of her deceased family members and their funeral cards. So, I decided that maybe a page for pictures, etc. of our "Old Timers" might be appropriate as I do not know what else to do with her pictures, etc. I don't want to get showered with pictures of people but I would like to get some pictures of people who were maybe born in Leadville and died in Leadville or those who at least died there. They were the builders of the city and county. I would need their name, birth location, birth date, death location, and death date. I have started the page and uploaded it tonight and please understand that I used the pictures that I already had, which is my children's family and then Mr. Chronister's picture. Ed Kelly, I would like to have a picture of your Dad other than one that I would have to take out of a magazine or old newspaper and one of "Doc" if you have it as he was a great comfort to the people of Leadville and just looking I don't have any information on the death of your father. And who is Leo Kelly? The name rings a bell.... Please email me at [email protected] and leave your virus's at home. I don't have time for them....;-) The mail list cannot accept attachments.
