    2. Dorsey, Peter A.
    3. Thanks Sheree. I will try that man. I don't have any first hand knowledge about the folks on the letter but I did find this on the internet: http://books.google.com/books?id=1BywykD4g5MC&pg=RA2-PA112&lpg=RA2-PA112&dq=%22j.B.+Dorsey%22+thompson&source=bl&ots=ILdUo4tAFd&sig=YSHc1dcFl8NM4B8tdbQBY3VSfh4&hl=en&ei=bfipTP2vN4H-8AbLptHRDA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5&sqi=2&ved=0CCEQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=%22j.B.%20Dorsey%22%20thompson&f=false This seems to indicate that George Thompson was some kind of RR official in Parkersburg who worked with J.B. Dorsey. I'm not sure how Mr. Jackson comes in. He could have been a partner in the RR itself or perhaps in a separate venture. Do you think G.W. Thompson is related to your Thompsons? It's all very interesting. 3. Hi Nancy, My name is Gary Bell and I wanted to ask if you know, are there any pictures or records of the businesses people, that were in Leadville in 1880? My gggrand father, Joseph P. Emms is listed in the 1880 Leadville Census as being a baker and having a bakery there in Leadville. He had left his family in Missouri with his two sons, James C. Emms 20 and John F Emms 16, James was a miner and John helped at the bakery, his son in law, William H. Johns 32, who was a miner, and James twin brother, John B. Emms, 47, who was also a baker. I believe they all came back to Missouri before 1890, but I'm not sure when. I'm sure they all had a great adventure, both good and terrible, there in Leadville. Are there any ways of finding out about this rag tag group of my long lost relatives? Thanks for any ideas. 3. It is usually the city or the county that has those records or the mortuary so where those books were kept or passed down is the question. More than likely they have disappeared, It was probably a city cemetery and I am sure the city has been asked over and over for records for that cemetery. Another project to investigate. 3. Thank you for this index, obviously made by reading headstones. I was hoping for an index of the person who was in charge of the cemetery, a book of  the layout of plots and to whom assigned,  as I doubt a stone was ever placed on my gggrandfather's (John Guinane, died in Georgetown, Nov 16, 1895) gravesite...if I could locate the plot, I would place a stone now. As a point of interest, the nephew of my gggrandfather, Mart Duggan, once the (in-)famous marshal of  Leadville, is having a stone placed this month at the family plot at Riverside Cemetery, Denver....he was shot & killed April 9, 1888  in Leadville - so it's never too late to place a stone! Thanks to the folks who organized a benefit to raise funds for this stone....as there were about a dozen family members buried there, family has also contributed to have others' names placed on back of the stone.   --- On Mon, 9/20/10, Gail Kilgore <gail.kilgore@gmail.com> wrote: From: Gail Kilgore <gail.kilgore@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [COLAKE] Cemetery between Georgetown & Idaho Springs To: colake@rootsweb.com Date: Monday, September 20, 2010, 6:36 PM Here is a transcription down on the cemetery near Georgetown but your name is not listed. http://files.usgwarchives.net/co/clearcreek/cemeteries/georgetwn.txt Gail On Mon, Sep 20, 2010 at 6:14 PM, Nancy Peregrine <nancyperegrine@yahoo.com>wrote: > Does anyone know of an index of burials with plot locations for the > cemetery located outside of Georgetown on the road to Idaho Springs? Mary (Sullivan) and John Sullivan were married in MA. According to sources Mary's relatives in Leadville offered John a job at an ice house they owned/ran but on their arrival no job was to be had. This resulted in family feud that lasted as long as they lived and perhaps beyond. Due to this I do not have her/their relatives and am quite frustrated. I have come to the sad realization that I likely will have to research all the Sullivans I can find and since they were quite interrelated with the Harringtons research them as well. 3. Another possibility might be to use different colored gel material and shine a flashlight through them. Police use this method to bring out things hard to see in ambient light. I have not tried this but it makes sense and might be worth a try. ~~C Sullivan --- On Sun, 9/19/10, camracrazy <camracrazy@yahoo.com> wrote: From: camracrazy <camracrazy@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [COLAKE] Leadville Cemetery To: colake@rootsweb.com Date: Sunday, September 19, 2010, 7:18 AM Gail, I wish there was some way to restore the cemetery. Lingren from Sweden, one stone the man was from Norway, another the Dr. was from Germany so I went and looked and that area that he was from is now in SW Poland.  I found some missing Civil War Vets and some Woodman stones. The Civil War Vets stones are deteriorating very fast and hope that we can get them replaced. It is a shame that what looks like the stones sinking, which I am sure some of them are, but I also think the forest floor is covering the stones.  Wish we could have a huge fund raiser and get in there and repair all the broken stones and fill in all the sunken graves.. knee deep to higher..  take the stones and cover them so we can get a name off them and then replace the stone.  Those stones have huge pores that chalk would stay in the groves and breaks in the stone and I am afraid would make matters worse.  I used chalk on a CW Vet's marker in AZ, sure the rain will wash it away... bet me... two years and every time I went there I still saw the damage that I did to that stone and I apologized to the vet and finally got the VA to get him a new stone.  I wanted today to chalk up a lot of stones but was afraid to do it.   The info is still on the stones if there was a way to bring it up. Then out of the clear blue is a little wooden maker with the name etched in the wood just as visible as could be and I think it was a still born child born in 1904 and the wood was very legible. I will try and get back up there this week if the weather holds and spend some time with pen and paper, which I did not have today to make notes and a spray bottle with water in it. Should call a day in Leadville to meet and hit that forgotten area and see how much we can get transcribed and photographed. Any ideas...
