Do you have the information on the robbery on Christmas Day 1893? It talks about Harry Aplin in this info? Gail
Hi have been reading about the Griswald's book. Is there anything in it on Robert S. Aplin, Marion Aplin, Robert Harry Aplin, Maggie King Aplin, Fred Arnold, Net Arnold, Bess Arnold, Edna Arnold, John Arnold? Robert Harry went by Harry most of the time. Maggie took a overdose of drugs and died August 1, 1898. I'll get the Wells family Lake County history together and send it to her. The Wells boys got there in June of 1860 and George had interests in businesses and mines until his death in 1906. Actually I just found out that the Hall line of the family still has interests in mines in California Gulch that were handed down. Thanks, Gail - I'll have to grow larger carrots to attract any worthwhile donkeys! [remember that James Griffiths was an engineer . . .] I just don't know enough about this chappie, as yet, to be able to make a submission to attract - more carrots! More donkeys? I'm confusing myself, here. And I can't take a demotic interest in Leadville until I know more about his relationship with the area. It will come, I know it will, but not tomorrow. Hi, List - Could somebody tell me if Marie Schlamann, in her book referred to, has any mention of James Griffiths, his wife Margaret, and children, who would have come to Leadville about 1878. James was an engineer. That would be helpful! Lois
Please read the news article that I posted yesterday. Gail
I just talked with Marie and she wants to set the deadline of October 1, 2001. She is 82 years old and is so excited about doing this book. She hopes to get great response from everyone. She talked about the old-timers, which I did not know, and feels that some of that history should be saved as it was so much apart of Leadville. She is an invalid but crochets and quilts and has a small business selling her quilts and is busy making quilts for the hunters to line their sleeping bags..;-) She said that she needs to keep her mind active and that this will be the last book that she tackles. Hope you will all support this book. Gail
She didn't say in her article. Gail
