Correction to previous - re Leadville directories - not 1892, but 1882 (Not my week, is it!) Lois
My Griffiths family all tidied up again and ready to move on. Purely speculatively (it all is, as yet) I have slotted that little James-from-the-cemetery into this table (the Elizabeth and the Gertie are not mine): James and Margaret Griffiths, both b S Wales, ca 1851 and ca 1853, marriage place & date not yet known 1) Elizabeth Ann b 14.1.1877 Scranton, Lackawanna, PA m "ca 1901" Boulder CO, Elmer Ellsworth YOCKEY her children known - this family moved to Fremont area, CA 2) William b ca 1879 (possibly 9.11.1878 - if he,then d Oct 1959) no info re marriage 3) James b December 1880, d 7.10.1881 bur Leadville (probable) 4) Margaret b 26.3.1882 Leadville, d 21.3.1954 Sunshine CO m 26.12.1902 Boulder CO, James Arthur BURCH, b 19.12.1874 Sunshine, d 5.12.1925 Boulder her children known - now seeking grandchildren - this family remained in Boulder/Hygiene area 5) ??no other children known of, as yet They probably left Leadville for Boulder as a family, at some time before 1900. Is there an institution I can approach to look up Leadville directories for me, after 1892 (which I have). Would there be, say, school records for the Griffiths children? I should be glad to hear from anyone who has suggestions. Many thanks. Lois (in Canberra, Australia)
Sorry, Gail - you are right! Not a good day today. Apologies! Lois
Gail, The age of Mary E. Brown would have been about 24-26 years old and I have not a first name on her husband as yet. Her daughter was known as Mary E. Brown as well BUT she was living well past 1882,3,4.....This might be the lady I'm looking for. What is the information on her listing? Dates? is there a marker? Once again a big thanks! Dianna
All these Harringtons at the Evergreen Cemetery inspire me to ask if you would, kindly, search for me in the cemetery records: James Griffiths, b ca 1851 Wales; Margaret Griffiths, b ca 1853 Wales; William Griffiths b ca 1879 Leadville area; any other children of these parents born after 1882. You never know, that might advance my cause considerably! Thanks - Lois
Hello Dianne, I know that this is no help, but will answer anyway. I have been trying to find more information on my husband's grandparents, Timothy and Catherine Harrington. They did have a daughter, Mary who was known as :Mamie". The difference is that our Harriingtons were in Dogwood, SD in the early 1880's before they moved to Victor, CO. Though other family members of my husband's were in Leadville at that time, not the Harringtons. Wish I could be of help, Jean
OOOO! Mary E. Brown is a winner for me. What is the mention? I'm always hopeful! Thanks Gail! Dianna
Do you have an exact name for me on that one? Is it Mary Brown, Mary Harrington Brown...?Thanks Again. Dianna
I have already told you Lois, what Griffiths are buried in Leadville. Gail
The cemetery listing just says Mary Brown no initials. Does her age seem about right and do you know her husband's name? That might help. Gail
Gail, Thank you so much for your Help! My Mary isn't there. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, hmmmm. Thanks again. Dianna
Thanks Gail, you're so quick! My Timothy Harrington was not buried there in Leadville. He went on to Eureka, UT. BUT I was hoping to find Mary Harrington (Brown) there. ANy such luck? Thanks again. Dianna
I've seen some awesome help here. Can I ask for a favor of someone? I am trying to find information on a Mary Harrington, daughter of Timothy and Catherine Harrington, living in Leadville in 1880 census. She probably married there in Leadville around 1881-1882 and the moved to maybe Ruby and later died in childbirth(?) possibly in Leadville. Any information about Mary or the Timothy Harrington (a miner) family would be appreciated. Is there possibly a mention in the cemetery? Many thanks!!!! Dianna Wickern
The mention is she was on a committee for the Monday Easter Ball, if this one is yours but the year would be 1885. Gail
There are a lot of Harrington's listed in the book, but not your names and mention of a Harrington ranch. There is mention of a Mary E. Brown in the book. Gail
Guess I didn't see the Subject line....sorry There are 21 Harrington's in Evergreen Cemetery and there is no Catherine. St. Joseph's July 19, 1933 Mary Brown, age 73 blk Q grave 12 and there is a marker. In that same blk and graves are James K. and James V. Brown and in grave 13 is Michael Brown... Gail
There are 27 Harrington's in the Catholic Cemetery. Oct 20, 1902, Thimothy Harrington age 49 Blk U Grave 46 there is a marker and in comments presumed to be Timothy. There is a Robert Harrington buried in the same blk and grave??? and he was 67 and died Feb 19, 1909 and there is a marker. Nothing on Catherine...need married name, I guess. Gail
Hi, I'm not sure of what resources are available from members of this list, but I am looking for any kind of information on Tilda (Kaisa Matilda) Rapakko who went to Leadville in 1896. I believe that she may have settled there. I have a death date for her of 8 Feb 1918. Could SKS tell me if she is buried in a Leadville cemetery? She may have married, but I do not know for sure, so her name at death may still have been Rapakko. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated. Thank you. Carole Johnson
There is no listing for any Rapakko in the Leadville cemeteries so that may mean that she married. There is no mention of that surname in the books I have either. She definitely sounds Finnish to me. Gail
