Author: angwils Surnames: Rose Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.colorado.counties.lake/1007.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thank you!!!! I was able to find a death notice for Margaret Rose, but nothing for her husband Francis. I would like your opinion: the death notice for Margaret lists the only surviving family member as a son, Thomas, who came home for the funeral. If this is the family I thought it was, they only had one surviving family member after the death of Margaret, a son - but his name was Joseph and he lived in Denver. Do you have any idea if a mistake like that would have been common, or is this probably the wrong family? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. As far as death records, we do have some mortuary reccords. I usually find that obits in the newspapers give a lot of information. Do not pay for this info. We have over fifty thousand pages of our newspapers online at: www.coloradohistoricnewspapers.org. If you don't find what you want, email me at genealogy@bresnan.net and I will search for you. Author: angwils Surnames: Rose Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.colorado.counties.lake/1007/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am searching for death records for Francis Rose (b. abt. 1841 Ireland - d. 5-3-1883 Leadville, Colorado) and Margaret Rose (b. Oct 1843 Ireland - d. 2-15-1901 Leadville, Colorado). I have located their graves (they are buried in Evergreen Cemetery), but all the stones say are the death date and their age. I am hoping a death record may give me more info. Especially regarding Margaret's maiden name. I have found a ton of "pay for your query" type sites. I would really like to know it's the right document before sending payment. Does anyone know 1. who I can contact to find these records and 2. if the death records would provide me with extra information? Thank you. 2. Wilmuth Ward (born approx. 1840) and her daughter Ida (born 1874). 1880 Census shows her as a widow living on Front Street. Have not figured out who Mr. Ward is or if he died in Leadville. Wilmuth came to CO from Lee County, VA. Wilmuth later married Eugene Young in Leadville and had a son Charles. In the latter 1880's. Her husband and son moved to Denver and she ends up in the Colorado State Insane Asylum in Pueblo and ultimately dies there. Lucretia Elizabeth Vandeventer - aka Lizzie. Daughter of Wilmuth Ward from an earlier marriage. Born approx. 1860. Possible married a Mr. English but some dates seem off. 3. Looking for information on Joseph and George Wells and Joseph Wells' wife Molly/Mary Roach. Also brother-in-law Jason Hall. -- 1860-1906. Joseph was County Clerk and George was Marshall of Lake County for many years. Jason Hall was a mine owner of several claims and possible had other dealings in the area. The Wells brothers were also owners/part owners of several mines and businesses within Lake County. Joseph retired from public office to his ranch at Villa Grove and George lived in Canon City but maintained business in Leadville. Both gentlemen are buried in Canon City. I have a standing $25 reward for the Leadville Library or local historical society if a good picture of Molly/Mary Roach Wells can be produced. I have several of George and Joseph from the numerous history books that I own. Any one know anything about the person he is listed residing with? Any other places to look for his death record, place? TIA Ralph Larson
