Hello Janice, I was viewing the pdf file of the Catholic Cemetery 1888-1981 and the file said it was corrupt and closed. Just thought you would like to know. Thank you for posting the items on the Leadville library website. I appreciate all that you and the Leadville Library does. I live in Texas and get to Leadville about once every other summer. Your collection is great and the staff is so helpful and knowledgeable. Kisha: All of our cemetry records including the maps are on our website www.lakecountypubliclibrary.org It is possible they died somewhere else, or there might not be any records. Hi Janice, I am sorry for not remembering your name but I really was a bit dopey after a spinal injection to see if I need surgery or not. If so I hope it is before my trip. If it is possible to find Edward Brady the younger's grave this time I would be thrilled. He is the one that died in 1901 of a burst appendix at the young age of 20 - do not count on the exact date but I can get it as soon as I wake up tomorrow. I guess I need to research all the Sullivan's especially the 5th avenue group as well as any Harrington's of the time. I told you a bit about the issues between my ggrandmother and her family but will brush by it again. Mary was married to John Sullivan, according to everyone with a mouth the last 3 generations she was a Sullivan before marriage. Anyway they married in MA 1881 ? soon after their son Jeremiah was born in 1887 they moved to Leadville. John was promised a job by one of her relatives in the ice house. Once they got there no job was forthcoming and a feud was started that lasted at least 2 generations. In my dad's time they were not allowed to play with any of the 5th street Sullivans. Since I am really stuck in tracing Mary and John I am going to start attacking the records of all the Sullivan and Harrington souls I can find. Perhaps something will lead me to her. I am also taking a recorder and talking to her in hope EVPs are real and she will tel me anything to find her right records. I know but I am frustrated. I know what paet of Ireland she is from down to a small area but there are so many Sullivan and Harringtons that they went by their Sept (clan) names and I have no idea what it may be. Perhaps with one of the others I can find out. There is one human being on earth that knows almost every person alive or dead in the area in Ireland since records were kept. He is in his 80s and I am afraid if I do not find her before he passes it will be moot as he has no inclination to leave his studies to any organization thinking perhaps his 5 year old granddaughter may grow to be interested. ~~C Sullivan
Oh, Chaffee County specifically had the RR Hospital and perhaps one of the few around during much of that time. Both my GGrands on my Dad's side died there but lived in Minturn. ~~C
Lots also lived in Minturn and Red Bluff especially after the Railroad was in full swim as Minturn was the turnabout and depot for many trains. ~~C Sullivan --- On Tue, 5/12/09, George Pearson <pearson.george@comcast.net> wrote: From: George Pearson <pearson.george@comcast.net> Subject: Re: [COLAKE] Mining Fatalities To: colake@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, May 12, 2009, 9:30 PM Gail, Thank you so much for this helpful explanation about the families of the miner's. Checking all this information out on these guys that were killed in the mines, some had their families in Leadville or Lake Co. and some had them in Denver or left them in the original home and went to Leadville to become rich and then to go back to their homes where ever they were. Some were in Chaffee Co. I found it interesting to see how far these men would travel for work and it didn't make any difference that it was 1879-1880. Their mode of travel was just different than it is now a days but it was their mode of travel and nothing held them back. Lots of wives stayed with family members while the men were gone. Can I get more information about the records in the mining museum? Are they not also in the library? I would think that Joanne would be very interested in adding the information to the library's genealogical information. Speaking of Joanne I have to contact her about a grave location I could not find last year. ~~C Sullivan
