Author: happyindvr Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.colorado.counties.lake/986.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I finally made it downtown to the libraries to do some research and checked in the Leadville directories for William Nelson. He wasn't in the 1895 directory and there wasn't one for 1896. In 1897 he is listed as a miner living at 131 E 4th. In 1898 they are living at 411 E 6th. In 1899 he moved to 208 E 5th and is also there in 1900. In 1900 it says he works for a company called Mining & Leasing Co. I checked the next two years and he isn't in Leadville any more. I figured if he had died and his wife was still there then she would have been listed but she wasn't there either. It seems they were only in Leadville for a few years. Hope that helps a little. Hello Gail: I would like to know if he was ever in any mine accidents and whether I can find more proof that he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. His obituary says he was a member of the KofC and his tombstone has the emblem of the KofC on its face, but I am hoping for some records. I have gone through the city directories and have that info. I have a copy of the History of Leadville and Lake County, but no answers to my questions in either. Thanks for your interest in helping. I also knew that I had a Doyle that was killed... a Harry Doyle killed at the age of 36 in the Midland Tunnel blast on 27 Jul 1887 and was buried on 28 Jul 1887 in the Catholic Free section of Evergreen Cemetery.
