The 1860 census of Tippah County, MS, 12 July, 1860, Page 70, HN 487, FN 483, line number 27, lists Peyton C. Coker, born Miss to James T. and Francis Coker, as being 7/12 year old. That means he would have been born probably in January of 1860, or perhaps December, 1859. The date on Union County cemetery census is 1853. I wonder if he backdated his age because of the age of his wife Rebekah? Peyton's grandson told me that Peyton died in 1948. Confusion reigns when searching old census records.
