Where i am curious is to why people say this joseph son lived later. i havent seen any proof linking him to a jospeh coker deep in south. Here's my reason ing for asking virginia by rights back in early 1700's was actually parts of state north of it and actaully part of north carolina. That is if you go by a colonial map and read the history. no the joseph coker i am look for was born roughly 1730-1740 dies in 1774 closeest i get to this is court document off his son's being orphaned his wife millie has to bring them to court in 1774. supposively their is a census 1771 showing joseph coker in nc surry county nc which by colonial standards would have still been in virginia territory. reasons for believing your joseph is right line to this is i have yet to see how the southern sc one can be same linage do to how old he was when he died which was mid 1800's that would make the joseph being close to 100 years old or better. Not saying that is not impossible but the on further south fought in revolution from my understanding. Now i am not saying you said this but here is why i tend to believe yours is also tied into my joseph using data basis and the LDS sight it showing father being john coker when i try to type in my great great grandfather dennis coker. So here is my question roughly what year was your john coker born in and where? the other is names with in your line follow closely with mine other then claybourn and dennis coker but the children of claybourn coker is what is of interest robert t coker , james wesley coker to mention a couple. do you have any documents showing this joseph being married to anyone? the other thing i have found in my searches in virginia is a nathaniel coker around 1771 but have no real data on him he came up in a will probate. my thing is their were two joseph cokers roughly in same region between virginia...north carolina and south carolina both being of 1730 to 1740 dating to 1774 to 1850's. and as well you the johns two one i get is john coker 1684 the other 1723. what i have witnessed is a brother tends to name one of his children the other brothers names . also is their a fredrick coker in your line roughly born 1830-1845? your names match up in alot of census in illinoise as well as in georgia. georgia being first then 1820 to 1850's they show up in land buys in illiniose. maybe be just freak thing but i see too much leaning one way. and seems to be joseph coker is always the broken link in family trees your comment aprecciated. gary coker
